Understanding How ADHD Brain Works

Such a great resource not just for parents with ADHD children but also for all human beings. There is a saying “It takes a village to raise a kid.” It takes books like this to help us become compassionate and understanding human beings. The author shared personal experiences that touched my heart and increased my view for a better way. The struggle is real. I love how this book focused on becoming a better equipped parent to empower and help her ADHD daughter thrive. There are options to help your kid navigate ADHD.

The information on Chapter 4 focused on Treatments is valuable.

I also love how understanding the brain is discussed. Emotions starts from the brain and it is very important to start there.

I highly recommend this book!

Excellent Book for Parents!

I can’t say enough great things about this book! The author shares great stories about her struggles raising a child with ADHD and offers sound, practical advice to helping parents effectively raise their own kids!

Chapter 6 goes into great detail about handling reactive and intense emotions. She gave an example of how her own daughter loved reading, and when it was time to switch to learning math, her daughter had a melt down. This was such an important lesson for me. From this chapter I learned that by her switching to a different activity like math, her daughter felt she was taking away an enjoyable activity that she was good at (e.g- reading). Moral of the story is, having that conversation with your child could make all the difference in how they view the situation! Great book all around that offers practical advice!

So well put together

Such a professional and well put together book and audiobook which has been filled with a ton of information whilst staying extremely easy to digest and understand. Very interesting chapter about how ADHD can actually effect the brain which was a deep-dive that I hadn't heard before and was just interesting. However, by far the most helpful chapter for parents with children ADHD diagnosis is the numerous techniques that can help your child concentrate and be as productive as possible. Overall, I learnt a ton of new information that I didn't previously know and have taken away some practical tips I can implement with my child.

Very well researched and informative!!

Written by a mother who struggled to raise her daughter from academically challenged to excelling, this book uses an empathetic approach to help parents coach their kids with ADHD. After getting an understanding the ADHD brain, I become more compassionate and patient with my child in need. I feel well-informed about various medical and non-medical treatments available and proper diet to manage my child's symptoms. I found the practice scripts in the "Making Friends" chapter useful in preparing my child for social situations and the chapter on behavioral therapy is super informative. I'd recommend this to anyone who looking to best support a child with ADHD!

Invaluable resource

The amount of information once a parent learns of the diagnosis is overwhelming and to understand, as the author explains, takes years of trial and error. Through her experience learn the most important information from behavioral therapy to daily routines, attending school, and making friends. This book is a resource and compassionate friend. Absolutely recommend for families dealing with ADHD.

Amazing for ADD/ADHD kids!!

This is one of the best resources I have come across to use with my daughter. I know other parents are probably as desperate as I am. We are so impressed with this book that I went and told my daughter teacher, counselor, and assistant principal about it. It helped answer a lot of questions for all of us. I would highly recommend!

Great book

A very detailed guid to help parents and teach them how to deal with their kid who is suffering with ADHD. The Author did an excellent job by researching great resource and provided us with great tips and advices. There are so many tools to use, not only for parents, but also for the children. As a parent of an autistic child and he has received the ADHD evaluation test and the result came negative, I was well prepared to deal with the unexpected. Well structured, highly recommended.

Amazing book.

I am pleased because I got this book, which has so much information I had questions about. Now, I feel ready to help my friend with her son, that was diagnosed with ADHD. I felt the desire to help, but I did not how. But with this audiobook, I learned interesting facts that would aid him a lot, such as understanding how it affects the brain, the daily routines, and how to make him successful at school. All this information is essential to help any child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
