Publisher's summary

A revolutionary new approach to ADD/ADHD featuring cutting-edge research and strategies to help listeners thrive, by the best-selling authors of the seminal books Driven to Distraction and Delivered from Distraction

“An inspired road map for living with a distractible brain . . . If you or your child suffer from ADHD, this book should be on your shelf. It will give you courage and hope.” (Michael Thompson, PhD, New York Times best-selling co-author of Raising Cai)

World-renowned authors Dr. Edward M. Hallowell and Dr. John J. Ratey literally “wrote the book” on ADD/ADHD more than two decades ago. Their best seller, Driven to Distraction, largely introduced this diagnosis to the public and sold more than a million copies along the way.

Now, most people have heard of ADHD and know someone who may have it. But lost in the discussion of both childhood and adult diagnosis of ADHD is the potential upside: Many hugely successful entrepreneurs and highly creative people attribute their achievements to ADHD. Also unknown to most are the recent research developments, including innovations that give a clearer understanding of the ADHD brain in action. In ADHD 2.0, Drs. Hallowell and Ratey, both of whom have this “variable attention trait”, draw on the latest science to provide both parents and adults with ADHD a plan for minimizing the downside and maximizing the benefits of ADHD at any age. They offer an arsenal of new strategies and lifestyle hacks for thriving with ADHD, including

  • Find the right kind of difficult. Use these behavior assessments to discover the work, activity, or creative outlet best suited to an individual’s unique strengths.
  • Reimagine environment. What specific elements to look for - at home, at school, or in the workplace - to enhance the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit inherent in the ADHD mind.
  • Embrace innate neurological tendencies. Take advantage of new findings about the brain’s default mode network and cerebellum, which confer major benefits for people with ADHD.
  • Tap into the healing power of connection. Tips for establishing and maintaining positive connection “the other Vitamind C” and the best antidote to the negativity that plagues so many people with ADHD.
  • Consider medication. Gets the facts about the underlying chemistry, side effects, and proven benefits of all the pharmaceutical options.

As inspiring as it is practical, ADHD 2.0 will help you tap into the power of this mercurial condition and find the key that unlocks potential.

An ADHD game changer!

As a woman who was diagnosed ADHD as an adult, this book changed by perspective of myself and my life. It helped me understand my childhood and it helped increase my self-worth. As a psychotherapist, this book has helped me recognize ADHD and neuroatypical traits in many of my clients. I recommend this book to most of my clients and/or their parents.

Actual advice!

I have listened to a few audiobooks on ADHD and haven’t retained any meaningful advice, but this book gives more strategies in an organized and well-explained way. Definitely the best ADHD book for those who already know the difficulties of ADHD, don’t need the background and just need the tools to better address it.

If you or your child has ADHD READ THIS BOOK

I have read all of Dr Hallowell's previous books as well as many other resources. I thought there is nothing else for me to learn. I was wrong!
Lots of research based information, as well as an inspiring point of view.

Informative

Maybe use a different speaker to read, a bit monotone but definitely worth the listen.

A great listen, and a great help.

I have a friend who has really bad ADHD, I picked up this book to see if I could at least help them around a bit, or at least better understand them. I've got to say that this book does that, and so much more, while remaining entertaining, enlightening, but most of all short, so I can show it to my friend.

A must if you or your child has ADHD!!

wow just wow. sometimes reading education and medical books you feel like after you read you didn't get many "tips" or you can't summarize. this is NOT the case for this book and I bought the book and then listened to the entire book straight through on a trip home and wow. this book not only gave me tips on things I can do and how to deal with what I am thinking (plus not making me feel bad for the condition I have) but the updated science, examples and both at home and medical information. A MUST. ALSO, IF THE AUTHORS ARE READING THIS THEN JUST WOW AND YOUR WRITING IS AMAZING. also I have been in a "rut" since October when my doctor had me "cold turkey" ALL medication and I tried reading other books in order for me to try and learn how to cope to see if I can get out of the rut and everything made me feel terrible. this book has helped to turn me around. so thank you. everyone, please read.

Good update in our high tech ADHD world

We needed this update, those of us w/ADHD in a world where any technological help is needed. Just as computers need improvements and information needs the latest dispensation, we with ADHD need all the helps we can get. Hallowell & Ratey brought no disappointment.

Wonderful

The book was super helpful for me as an adult with ADHD. It was narrated well and was engaging enough that I didn't get (too) distracted while listening. I would definitely recommend it!

Great book all around

It gave me confidence to take a step in life. All because I learned something about my adhd that a I didn't was there and it was hurting me. I now have a greater understanding of my really really fast brain.
