Publisher's summary

Lord Graham Findlay, the shamelessly virile Viscount Northridge, has a disgraceful secret, one he'll do anything to hide. Holding his passions at bay, Gray has sworn off the fairer sex. But when temptation comes in the form of an intriguing woman he cannot easily avoid, Gray's integrity - and his most depraved desires - are put to the ultimate test.

Self-assured and carefree Princess Svetlanka Volkonsky never dreamed she would one day become a lady's maid to avoid a dangerous traitor. But danger also comes in many guises, especially in the sinful and devastatingly attractive lord of the manor who introduces her to a world of singular pleasure.

When Lana's past emerges to threaten the life and the false identity she's built in England, she and Gray find themselves falling into a tangled web of lies and intrigue...and the last place either of them expected to fall...in love.

Contains mature themes.

Stupid Hero

This story overlaps the timeline of book one, rather than being a sequel, which was really cool. It had a suspenseful and intriguing storyline. I don’t understand how the author thought it was remotely believable that Gray didn’t figure out IMMEDIATELY the identity of his sister’s lady’s maid. The longer he was ‘blind’ the harder it was to enjoy the story. Performance was very enjoyable.

Another Good One

I thoroughly enjoyed this story as well. As I said before, there is a little suspense in these stories and I like that. The characters of Graham and Lana are interesting, especially Lana's past. So along with the sexual heat there is intrigue and that makes the book more interesting. Paul Woodson is a very good narrator, and you will enjoy this story.

Romance and Intrigue

I really enjoyed the plot of this book and how well the authors intertwined this story with events of the previous book without out distracting from the main characters of this story. I recommend it. The narration was also excellent.

A Royal Enigma

Second book in Lords of Essex series. It was fun to get to know Gray more intimately after meeting him as Briana's brother in book 1. I enjoyed listening g to some of the same scenes but from a different point of view. All in all, I'm really enjoying the series and recommend it to anyone who enjoys Regency romances.

Paul Woodson did a great job. Loved Gray's voice especially.

A Question of Real Love or Real Lust

Initially, Gray’s attraction bothered me because it seemed more carnal than loving. Lana had real fear which he recognized but which didn’t hinder his actions in the least. He at first thinks her fear is because she is a virgin but she eventually opens up to him that she isn’t who he thinks she is. She holds back telling him the whole truth but gives him enough information to make him realize someone is out to do she and her sister harm. There are times throughout the book when you want to hit him upside the head and say “She is the Princess, stupid!” but his cluelessness doesn’t take away from the situation that her life is in danger and he needs to protect her and her sister so the action holds your interest. The plot was riveting and the characters interesting but the book seemed a little long. Some of the intimate scenes could have been cut. Eventually he realizes that he does, indeed, love her and the ending comes to a fast conclusion. The narrator was good but his Russian accents for Lana and her sister were off and not truly Russian aristocracy. Even being accomplished in many languages Lana would not have lost her accent so easily because up until she came to England she spoke Russian which is a difficult language. Most Russians retain their accent because unlike Spanish or French the base of Russian is not similar to any other language. It was not like in medieval times in England when the aristocracy spoke an entirely different language than English; they spoke Norman French while the peasants spoke Anglo Saxon. Still, this was a good listen.

Spectacular

The narrator and the story was perfect, the steam was 7 out of 10, the angst was a title long but it fit the story line.

Enjoyed it

I enjoyed the twists and turns this book made. Very entertaining and a wonderful reader. Personally I would have preferred a bit less intimate scenes. They get boring after a while. The rest was amazing.

Gray

This book started out good but Gray just gets more annoying the longer this book goes on and on and on. He is such a bonehead and has absolutely no regard for her reputation or job. In fact for the majority of this book Gray thinks Lana is just a maid and yet he still tries to compromise and risk her way to earn a living at every turn. He is the worst.
Not a fan.
