Publisher's summary

Welcome to a new series by nationally best-selling author Elizabeth Johns. Enjoy the extraordinary tale of four Knight brothers, and one little sister in the Gentlemen of Knights.

Can a sharp-tongued governess become indispensable to a duke?

Rowley Knight, Duke of Knighton, is too busy being a duke to bother with such nonsense as love. With three heirs, he is in no hurry whatsoever to succumb to the lures of the leg-shackles. He is content managing his siblings and estates, and avoiding society whenever possible. If he can only find someone to manage his young sister, life can go back to its proper order.

Emma Lancaster's father gambled away her family's fortune leaving her hopes for a respectable marriage shattered. Destitute and near desperate, she accepts a position as a governess to a young lady at the recommendation of her godmother. Little does she know that her charge is the brother of the man she despises. Can she humble herself to become his employee? Or will her temper get the best of her - and him?

Alex has changed his reading style

I bought this book because it was narrated by my favorite, Alex Wyndham. While I did enjoy the book I was disappointed in Alex's new reading style. The characters voices are good but the narration sounds like he's bored and wants to get it over with.

Narrator

His intonation of the novel reminded me of the narration of Jack Webb in the American series Dragnet. Initially hard to listen to.

Absolutely beautiful....

Clean and heart tickling.... I loved it. The sparring between those two :) The voice of the Narrator is pleasant enough. Will listen to it again, on day.

New to Elizabeth Johns

Pleasantly surprised! A good read, wish it was longer and with Alex Wyndham narrating I really enjoyed the book. Through years of audible listening, I've become picky about the narrators because a poor narrator can ruin a good book. Alex Wyndham makes a good book better. I'm going to check out Elizabeth's other books!

Awkward

I don’t think I will be giving anything away by addressing an issue at the beginning of the story since it was mentioned in the summary. I enjoyed the story, the plot was presented briskly and the characters had depth. What I found both amusing and unbelievable was the scenario where a young woman agrees to take a position in a family that, per the summary, was basically her mortal enemy having ruined her brother. It was amusing to me that there was so much angst on the part of the heroine worrying about being recognized by the Duke even though it seemed obvious that he should/would.
Still, I would recommend this book, author, and narrator to those looking for an engaging story accompanied by a very good narration.

I really enjoyed this one.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. A good, clean original story with minimal angst and s happy ending. Definitely my cup of tea!

I would have liked an epilogue a few years into the future describing their life together and children. It left me wanting more!
