Publisher's summary

FBI Agent Logan Reed specializes in explosives. He can track and defuse almost any incendiary device....

Except for the one buried deep inside his soul.

Home from Afghanistan now for two years, Logan has secured the perfect assignment on the FBI-K9 Bomb Squad in Denver. His new partner, a Belgian Malinois named Gunner, is an expertly trained bomb-sniffing dog. He’s everything a handler could hope for, except he’s not Lobo.

Agent Addison Thorne, a Bomb Technician at the top of her game, doesn’t trust the new guy. He’s too quiet and never goes out with the crew for a beer after work. There’s just something about him that makes her nervous, and nerves aren’t what a bomb-tech likes to feel.

Tasked with finding a bomber on the loose in the Mile High City, the explosives team must figure out who is planting the bombs and why before the civilian casualties skyrocket. Will they find all the bombs before panic ensues and they are forced to evacuate the capital?

When Reed finds himself in a situation mirroring his painful past, he locks up. Will Thorne be able to snap him back to the present before it’s too late? Can he hold it together or will he fail once again?

Either way, his own life and that of Thorne and Gunner could come to a fiery end.

Mile High Mayhem

I really enjoy the FBI K9 series. Each story revolves around a different main character in the series. Mile High Mayhem is Logan's story. Journey with Logan and his K9 partner as they search out explosives and come to terms with Logan's past.
Good story, leaves you looking forward to the release of book 5!

Tightly woven & well-written romantic suspense

Mile High Mayhem (FBI-K9 Series, #4) Audiobook, my ninth read from author Jodi Burnett, an author I'd wanted to read for some time yet never got around to until I read this book back in January of this year. An excellent read, so good that when the opportunity to listen to the audiobook came around I jumped at it. Enjoyable and captivating in its detail and development. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving a review." Kimberly Austin's narration adds to the enjoyment of the book and made the re-read very enjoyable.. The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I'll be reading more from this author and in this series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Nothing like a Romance & love of a good dog!

Jodi Burnett has done it again! Mile High Mayhem , another novel in her FBI K-9 series follows the adventures of the Bomb Squad and their K-9 team. It is an exciting story with many heart stopping moments as the team races against the clock to find and diffuse bombs set by a serial bomber. I love Jodi's detailed description of places throughout Colorado. It's like being there on site, as part of the team, a participant instead of an observer. Her characters are so real and even the dogs have personality. You can feel deep in your soul the love and loyalty the team both 2- legged and four - legged share with each other. The romance between the hero and heroine develops like a slow burn over the course of the story, sweet and sexy. It does not overwhelm the story itself, rather it is the perfect balance to the intense action of the story.
Kimberly Austin's narration is also perfect. She has the a wonderful voice with just the right amount of inflection, speed and timing to keep the reader pinned to the performance. Definitely don't listen at bedtime because her rendition will not induce sleep! Kimberly is able to change her tone to reflect the distinct personality of Jodi's characters. She is an artist drawing her audience into the story so like Jodi's mastery, you become the story , a member of the cast instead of in the wings!
Brava Brava, Ladies! I can't wait to listen to more!

Nicely done audio and EXCELLENT storyline

Author has a knack for portraying animals with human like characteristics. Gunner, K-9’in this edition, is written with love and his “movements/personality rings” through to readers.
Without giving books storyline away- Gunner’s owner, Reed, is hesitant to connect with not only his K-9 partner but everyone else in his life.
Enjoy tearing down Reed’s walls with the characters expertly created by author in 4th episode in series.

Another good story

Jodi Burnett writes about canine law enforcement dogs and their human partners. This story centers on Logan, an FBI explosives dog handler, his four legged partner Ranger and bomb defusion expert Addison. The story takes three interwoven lines: Logan and his relationship with Ranger (clouded by a previous loss), his relationship with Addison, and their investigation of a twisted, tormented serial killer in Denver Colorado. The plot moves well. The narrator is wonderful with her voice characterizations and vocal nuances. It's a very good story but the parts with the serial killer are not for the faint of heart. Parts were very difficult to listen to. But a bonus was learning about a HEA for two characters in a previous book. I will continue this fascinating series.

Another great story

Each one of Jodi's books gets better & better. I am just blown away by her books. This one was about a vet trying to deal with the death of his service dog. The blast that took his dogs life was his fault. When he got a job on the fbi canine bomb squad he told himself he would try not to care so much for his partner. But Gunner his new dog quickly grew on him. His new boss Addison was trying to get to know him but he didn't make it easy for her. She was impossible Logan thought. When they got involved in a serial bomber case the story took an explosive turn. Logan found himself working side by side with her and he was starting to like her. I enjoyed their journey together as they tried to find the killer. The story is full of twists & turns and also dogs. The suspense will keep the pages turning and the ending will shock you. I think this has the perfect narrator who brought each character to life. Another fine job for this author.

The Bond Between A Man And His Dog

This is the fourth book in Jodi Burnett's FBI-K9 series and it is awesome. Agent Logan Reed becomes a part of the Denver Bomb Squad which is led by Agent Addison Thorne. Agent Reed has been given a new dog partner with whom he wants to maintain a purely professional relationship. The author explores the relationship that develops between the agents and their dog partners. I enjoyed this story very much. I recommend this series to others who enjoy well written stories. Kimberly Austin's narration is awesome and her voice is pleasing. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Action-packed thriller.

Mile High Mayhem is an excellent combination of high intensity action and main characters who are not only likable but show their human frailties. Along with the action and characters I found the location personally familiar having visited all the malls mentioned in the story. If you enjoy books that are part of a series but work very well as stand-alone stories give this one a try. Kimberly Austin’s narration brought each character to life as well conveyed the story in a flawless manner.
