Ren is cool

I have mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed the narrator. She vocal characterizations enabled me to visual the various characters. But Kaitlyn came across as very naive. Some of her actions seemed very inconsistent and borderline reckless for someone who graduated with a degree in law enforcement. Her feelings and Colt's were all over the place. Plus I could not understand why she took over calling the lawyer and why she never informed her parents at certain points in the story. Because of this, I had a difficult time relating to her. Renegade on the other hand was great. I would have liked to heard more about him and how/why Kaitlyn decided to get him.
I've read and listened to several other books by Jodi Burnett. They are great. The point of view on this one is different and perhaps that why I'm not quite as engaged. Still, I enjoy Jodi's books and will definitely read and listen to more in this series.

Investment in suspense

Narrator did an excellent job.
Voice was perfect for tone of story.
Renegade is a rescue-dog who is protective of Caitlyn, his handler/owner.

Another Great Story

What a great story. Jodi always captures my attention with her writing. I love the loyalty between the dogs & the handlers. I also enjoyed the narrator for this one, outstanding job.
Kaitlyn is sucked into a murder case when her brother is accused of murder. She believes the Sheriff isn't investigating the case properly so she starts one of her own. Trouble starts when she asks too many questions. Renegade & Katie have to watch their steps as they unravel the truth.
A great story with amazing characters. I loved it & can't wait for more.

I was looking for a new series and this fits the bill.
well written with action, suspense. looking forward to more.

An Engaging Thriller

I enjoyed this first book in the "Tin Star K9 Series". Jodi Burnett writes stories that are populated with memorable characters and this book was no exception. I admired the female protagonist, Caitlyn Reed, who was fiercely independent and determined to prove her brother's innocence. The relationship between Caitlyn and her dog, Renegade, tugged at my heart. The plot had some surprising twists and turns. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I recommend this book to others who enjoy this genre. Joyce Oben's narration was fine and kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Suspenseful

Caitlyn and her dog get involved with solving a murder. The Narrator definitely helps make the story more realistic and enjoyable.

excellent first book in a series

loved this story thought it was filled with lots of twists and turns. very well written and who the hell doesn't love the lead character being a half German shepherd and Belgian malinois dog. renegade to the rescue. loved it and I am definitely in for the next book in the series.

Another well-written story from a very good author

Renegade (Tin Star K9, #1), my fourth read from author Jodi Burnett. I first read this book exactly a year ago and now I'm rereading/listening to the Audible edition. This book caught my attention in the opening pages & I never put it down until completed. I especially enjoyed the narrative talents of Joyce Oben whose voice made an excellent book even better. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author! The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Slow start

This is a great story. It was a bit slow at first but once it got going it really sucked you in and kept you guessing. Loved the characters and thought the narrator did a good job as well. Will be reading more of Jodi Burnett’s books.

Good book, better performance!

I love this author and her FBI canine series was wonderful! I was really looking forward to this new series. I was disappointed when I first read it because the main character, Katie seemed immature and naive, hard for me to take serious. But I switched to Audible and Joyce Oben's narration helped to settle me in the story. Katie remains somewhat naive and young to me. But the mystery and suspense is enough to keep me enthralled. And Renegade, the service dog, stills the show as usual.
I will stick with this series as Jodie Burnett is a fave author. I expect given Jodie's talent, Katie will mature and the suspense will continue to grow as the series goes on.
Joyce Oben's performance was very entertaining. Her oration skills and her clear and soothing speech made listening very entertaining.
I am looking forward to further offerings!
