Publisher's summary

Inside Affair is book one of the Prime Time Series trilogy and must be listened to in order.

Xander

If I had to describe Sean Bailey, it would be: A surly, temperamental pain in my ass. Never in that equation would I ever include the word boyfriend - and not just because he’s straight.

The older brother of my life-long best friend, Sean is a detective for the Chicago PD, and is also known as Detective “Dick” for being...well, a surly, temperamental pain in everyone’s ass. He also happens to be the best they have, which is why I find myself on his doorstep the night my life is threatened by an anonymous stalker.

I only wanted the name of a bodyguard; I didn’t expect for Sean to volunteer for the job. Now, not only do I have a bodyguard, I also have a fake boyfriend.

Sean

It must be so hard to be Alexander Thorne, the number one prime-time news anchor in the country, with millions of dollars and a car that costs more than my house. I mean, I’m allowed to give him a hard time about it, but when some creep decides to cross the line and go after him, they’re gonna have to answer to me.

Going undercover has never been an issue in the past, so I don’t see why there’d be a problem now. Xander and I have known each other for years, so this should be a breeze. Except suddenly my stomach’s flipping when he looks my way, and my body comes alive whenever he brushes by me. I know I’m good at my job and playing a character and all, but this is getting out of hand.

I can’t be sure that either of us are playing anymore.

Good start of new series

Inside Affair is the spin off from the Confessions series. This is a best friends brother, pretend boyfriend, opposites attract book. This is also the first book of a three book series so you know there are cliffhangers involved.

We meet detective Sean Bailey in Henri’s book. He is Craig’s older brother known as detective Dick. Sean is a top notch detective, not the nicest of people to others, he’s blue collar, and very work focused.

Alexander “Xander” is classy, lives in luxury, and a well know Newscaster. He has also known Sean most of his life as he is best friends with Sean’s brother.

Sean goes undercover to protect Xander. What happens is more than they expected. They have known each other almost their entire lives but didn’t really know the real person.

When forced into a close proximity and time spent together they open their eyes to what could be. How will Seans family react? How will figuring out a relationship while both are workaholics work? Stay turned as I hope we get more in the next book

Charlie David does an excellent job on his performance

...that narrator, though!

Of course the book was good. It's Ella. But that narrator make this story come alive. I'm finishing this rewiew then immediately going to search for more of his reads.

3.5 stars

I enjoyed the fast pace action and romance. The narrator has a deep sensual voice that catapulted the story. I do think that this book could have been longer and made into 1.

Wow. Blinding! 🤩

Sweet mother mercy on air wearing a tutu!! Another new series from Ella Frank and it didn’t disappoint! She’s taking us into a glimpse of the world of live broadcasting. It’s fascinating the details she’s written into Xander’s world. A complete contrast of Sean’s.

This book got me on the feels. The tension between Sean and Xander has been there since the initial phone call. Just like both of them, I was really starting to think “how could these two get together??” But then again, there’s always a fine line between attraction and animosity, or so they say.

It was something to watch these two’a relationship switch gears, gradually but I gotta give it to Sean, when he’s in, he’s all in. It’s refreshing to meet a character who even if he’s unsure, he doesn’t push and pull. It’s what I love most about Xander and Sean’s budding relationship.. it’s the cautionary stop, but there’s no hot or cold. It’s smooth and no unnecessary angst inner monologue.

The sexual tension and attraction is so thick, you can cut it with a knife. The steamy scenes on this book isn’t as much (yet) compared to Ella’s previous books, but it doesn’t mean there isn’t one in this book.

I’m dying to see what’s in for us on the next book. The ending got me all teary and twisted because only Ella Frank would simultaneously make us swoon and weepy AND royally make us exercise patience because July isn’t here soon enough. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Charlie David’s narration is just awesome on this one. He’s one of my favorites and well, his performance on this book is another a reason for that. 👍🏼

AMAZING!

I knew it! I knew Xander and Sean were going to be AMAZING! We get to see a side of Sean we hadn’t seen before, the self deprecating but still cocky detective. And Xander, I loved! Gah they’re just perfect together!
The suspense was amazing, and what I loved best was that I never figured out who it was! Sneaky Brellas!

Cliffhanger ahead so be prepared! Can’t wait for book 2!

Lastly, we get a little Henri and Bay! 🖤🖤
