Publisher's summary

Declan:

As a founding member of The Vers, a queer podcast I host with my three best friends, I’m "The Loner"—quieter than the others, and except for them, I don’t let myself get too close to people. Most of them just let you down anyway, or maybe it’s just that something about me chases people away.

Infrequent no-strings-attached hookups have always worked for me. Who knew my favorite one would become such a popular movie star? But Sebastian Cole and I made it work, meeting up whenever he was in Santa Monica and in the mood—until he called it off when he got a serious boyfriend. A boyfriend he later found in bed with another man.

Now, Sebastian is back in California, taking a break from acting. He needs a friend, and for whatever reason, he decides that should be me. We’ve known each other intimately for years, and yet, we’ve never spent much time together with our clothes on. When he starts taking me places, it feels suspiciously like dates...and surprisingly, I like it.

Despite our differences, Sebastian’s lonely like me. The more we hang out, the more I realize I’ll never get enough of him.

A loner dating a celebrity doesn’t make much sense. I don’t know how to be someone’s boyfriend, let alone be in the public eye. But to call him mine, I’ll need to leave the past behind and finally allow myself to move forward with him.

The Loner is an opposites-attract romance about a movie star rethinking his career and a bar owner/podcast host who isn’t fond of most people. Expect Southern California sun, swoon, found family, and once-in-a-lifetime friendships.

Love Sean Crisden

Good story. I couldn't get into it at first but, Sean Crisden made me want to keep listening. Interesting group of guys. Hopefully, they all get their HEA. I'm also hoping that Sean Crisden will be narrating the entire series.

I’m hooked.

What a wonderful story. I immediately fell in love with Declan and his friends. And loved how Sebastian and Declan’s relationship developed.
Riley Hart is so amazing at bringing characters to life. It feels like you could sit down with the vers guys and have so much fun.
The narration by Sean Crisden was outstanding. I really hope that he narrated the whole series. Can’t wait for more.

Sooo good!

Let me start by saying that I was in a reading slump, starting books and not finishing because I just wasn't connecting to the characters. I thought I was over the genre, but then I went back to one of my favorite authors and finished this book in less than a day. Funny, heartbreaking and heartwarming, it's everything you need in a romance. The narrator read really well, but a little too fast for my taste, so I turned it down to 90% speed and it was perfect and made the book last longer.

Great read

Riley Hart understands the depths men can have and knows how to express those in creative writing. This book is an example to all the rest of us who write that the outcome can be worth the effort.

The story and the narrator!

Riley Hart is my favorite M/M authors; I fall in love with every main character she writes about. As expected, I loved the story line and boy oh boy was I exited about the narrator. He’s one of my favorites that I don’t hear as often as I’d like to. He really knows how to read a story and being the characters to life. He elevates a story and makes the listening experience such a treat. The timber and inflection of his voice as he reads make me feel every emotion. I’m certain this will be one of the books I listen to many time. I’m very excited about this series. Book 1 was definitely 5-stars!

Good story

I’ve read a couple of these books and have enjoyed the beginning of this series. I was so happy when they started to come out in audible. This beginning book was good. These two were bound to hook up on a more permanent scale it just took them a long time to get there.
