Publisher's summary

After an unfortunate incident and a forced leave of absence from the Secret Service, Arden Ryan is moving back to Chicago where she can get over her failures in the comfort of her childhood home.

Her parents, who are lovely, if not a tad overbearing, will provide the support she needs. Healing is hard though, and when she’s prodded by her best friend to get back out there, Arden reluctantly takes a job guarding one of Hollywood’s leading ladies, Evelyn Glass.

Evelyn Glass disappeared from the silver screen unexpectedly when she decided to have a family. At least that’s what the public thinks. She’s making a comeback, though. After landing a role as the star on a top-rated television show, she feels invincible once again. As her ego starts to grow, so does her fan base, and attention, unwanted and otherwise, comes from every direction.

Evelyn and Arden butt heads at every pass. Evelyn’s desire to prove herself puts her in harm’s way more than once, until a situation occurs that put her children’s lives at risk. Her change of heart regarding not just Arden’s protection, but the attraction simmering between them, will change her entire life.

Can Arden prove her love means more to Evelyn than fame before it’s too late?

The book itself was amazing ..

There is nothing about this the book itself that wasn’t perfect.
I wasn’t expecting the twist in the book for sure. My only issue is Brittni Pope performance of Breaking Down Her Walls has made it difficult to hear anyone else try and read Ms. Zak books.

Good story line.

The story of Evelyn and Arden takes us on a twisty ride of mystery and romance. The characters are so likable from the MCs to the kids.
Although the narrator could be better, the story is well written and engaging. I definitely recommend reading it.

Good book

This was a good book. The MCs were believable and well suited to each other. I also enjoyed the supporting characters. They were very cute. Particularly the thirteenth year old who did not see himself as a child, The narrator was good and the story was well developed.

OK

I liked the premise, and liked most of the characters. My problem was how Arden was so agsty and soooo repetitive. At times listening to Ardens inner angst was like listening to a 17 year olds diary.
The book was supposed to be suspenseful when it really isn't. Narrator was ok, not my fav but decent.

The Bodyguard

Les version of The Bodyguard. The narrator was off for this character and the recording is weird now and then like the narrator leaned in too close to the mic or walked away from it. The story is fluffy and the lead character is repetitive in her constant worrying. Good rainy day fluffy les romance.

Disappointing

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this book. The story line boarders very closely long an old movie so it’s not original. A Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston movie lol.
I felt like it was just a monologue of the main characters thoughts. There wasn’t a whole lot of story.
Overall disappointing.
