I got this book as I am looking to become vegetarian. I am a runner and triathlete, but very much a middle of the pack with no danger of winning races. The title of this book sounded intriguing, but it turns out it was not what I was looking for. The author acknowledges that some, but not all people, have eating compulsions where more is always better. Fair enough, but she assumes that all athletes are compulsive over-trainers and a Olympic potential athletes, not weekend warriors.

All meat and dairy is gross. But there are hundreds of fruits and vegetables you can eat, and you can season them to make them taste good. The rest of the book is details on grams, micrograms, and percentages.

As a plant based athlete I have never been able to find information specifically catered to athletes; as great as the doctors promoting this lifestyle are, most of them talk about the needs of normal people who don't need to reach optimal performance. This book has provided helped me learn more about something that wasn't available else where - how a plant based diet can increase athletic performance.
