Very informative Audiobook

I just finished listening to Defusing Oppositional Defiant Disorder and I learned a lot about the disorder. My wife and I have dealing with a typical troubled teen that we were beginning to think wasn’t that typical. After listening to this book, and relieved as I do not think this is our case.

This book does a great job explaining what ODD is and really takes into the mind of someone with this disorder. I think anyone living in a household with someone that has ODD will benefit tremendously from listening to chapter 5 that outlines the 7 step plan for peace. If you are dealing with a person that is displaying signs of ODD, this book is must have!!

helps a lot

caring for a child with odd can be a nightmare, thats why the importance of this book, I should say just one of the reasons, I learned so much about triggers that children can have and how to respond, also avoiding certain loud places and environments is something important the book covers, in chapter 2 the author goes deep into explaining the mind and their world, it brings lots of clarity and better understanding, things like genetic influences are an eye opener. my favorite chapter was the one it talks about having a calmer home and it actually works very well for both the child and the care giver and also helps avoiding conflicts.

Learned a lot!

This book is very insightful and informational. I didn't know what ODD was before reading this book, but it made me reflect on relationships and friends I know with children with stories of tension and stress. This is a great book with specific strategies to gain peace and understanding. I liked the Situation Solutions chapter as it put many concepts together and showed how children evolve; therefore, strategies, agreements, and contracts evolve as well. Highly Recommend!

Great Resource for Understanding ODD

Hat’s off to Rose Lyon’s very informative insight on ODD. I have never heard of ODD before this, and after listening everything made sense. It is a great tool for parents on how to handle defiant attitude, temper tantrums that seems to be a constant occurrence on their child’s behavior. It also shows us how to differentiate ODD behavior from that of normal tantrums and what i liked the most is how it shows the effectiveness of proper communication, empathy, connection and resilience. Overall a really great resource in understanding ODD, delivered in a simple, easy to understand guide with real-life stories that we can relate to. I highly recommend it.Very well done.

Great resource for parents with a child with ODD

This is a wonderful book on Oppositional Defiant Disorder. As someone who has a doctorate in psychology and now a parent, I'm always consuming books on mental health-related topics. I find this book well organized, well written, clear, and easy to consume. You get a great understanding of what ODD is and what are the strategies to help your child overcome it. I really like the demystifying of many myths surrounding ODD, which allows parents to shed the guilt and at the same time gives them so much hope that if some of these strategies are implemented it is a mental health issue that can be overcome. Highly recommended!

A wonderful guide for ODD!

"Defusing Oppositional Defiant Disorder" is a non-judgemental guide that all parents should get their hands on if they suspect or know that their child has ODD. This audiobook does a great job of explaining ODD, gives a fresh perspective on how to handle it, and does it in a friendly, non-judgmental approach. The 7 steps toward peace is a gem of a chapter and I will be definitely using the instructions and techniques with my toddler.

As a parent of a child with ODD, I recommend it

As a parent of a child with ODD, I recommend the audio. It is a challenge to have a child who has oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and this audio would definitely help you deal with those challenges.  It would be especially helpful if you have a child recently diagnosed or you think they may have it. This audio will guide parents or other adults who care for children to understand ODD and how to help their children set limits, express themselves, and learn healthy ways to deal with stress so they can communicate and grow.
