Excited to start gardening!

It's finally garden season where I live! I started my own garden last year and just kind of winged it. It did ok but I enjoyed it so much I wanted to get a better understanding so I could have an abundant crop this year.

I particularly enjoyed the sections on the different types of gardens with the pros and cons so I could adjust for my gardening needs. I also really appreciated the in depth section on watering because that was always a guessing game for me.

Thought the author was knowledgeable and loved the narrators voice!

This is great

Wow, this book just rocked my world! It is jam-packed with information and covers every aspect of vegetable farming! My interest was piqued by the introduction. I'm a complete novice when it comes to vegetable growing, but I've already learnt so much! The novel is made much more enjoyable by the jokes and puns, which are rather funny. Both the book and the audiobook are highly recommended!

Great intro to gardening!

I, too, believed that I was a great helper in my grandmother's garden....... until I became an adult and realized I had ZERO gardening skills! Bruce McCord shares an endearing story of a boy who wants to carry on his grandmother's tradition of gardening, then goes on to explain in engaging detail how anyone can learn the basics to begin gardening. I highly recommend this book for anyone who, like me, may have found that making a garden takes more than dirt and seeds but can't stand the technical jargon in most books about soil science!

Extremely Helpful and Surprisingly Fun!

I wish I had this book when I first started gardening. There are a TON of helpful tips, and they're all broken down in a practical, easy to follow format.

I have a raised bed garden and had learned a bit from doing my own research online, but having all the info I need in one book here will save me many hours of wasted time on the internet.

A pleasant surprise was how fun and interesting the book was to listen to! As a fellow pun enthusiast, I was greatly entertained.

If you want to optimize your garden (and have a shocking amount of fun learning how to do so), this is your book!

Rock Science indeed

Just the kind of book I needed. It breaks down the necessary steps to feed your soil for maximum yields. I recommend it for any gardener or one inspiring to be a gardener, or if you tend to have poor yields. The problem could be your soil.

The most important aspect of gardening!

Great book with tons of helpful information to easily transform any garden. My favorite part was the seven common mistakes that new gardeners typically make. I now feel like I am an expert on compost, harvesting, and soil tests. Highly recommend it for the seasoned gardener or a beginner. Overall- a joy to listen to.

Good starter for the beginning Gardner.

Overall, it was fairly decent for the novice. The soil nutrient section was a little lacking. At least he included the right ones to focus on. However, his stated cost of a comprehensive soil sample was total bullshit. A full and comprehensive soil sample can be acquired from numerous labs across the country, generally for under $50. They are profoundly useful. For the most part, I’m sure this book will be useful to many.
