Fossil fuels and livestock grazing are often targeted as major culprits behind climate change and desertification. But Allan Savory, cofounder of the Savory Institute, begs to differ. The bigger problem, he warns, is our mismanagement of resources. Livestock grazing is not the problem; it's how we graze livestock. If we don't change the way we approach land management, irreparable harm from climate change could continue long after we replace fossil fuels.

Story
Raised as a fourth-generation farmer, when Will Harris inherited White Oak Pastures he was a full-time commodity cowboy who played hard and fast with every tool the system offered–chemicals, antibiotics, steroids, and more. His ancestors had built a highly profitable, conventionally run machine, but over time he found himself disgusted with the excess, cruelty, and smalltown devastation this system entailed. So he bet the farm on forging a different way of doing things. One that works with nature not against it, and bridges the quickly widening delta between consumers and their food.

Have you ever desired, deep within your soul, to make a comfortable full-time living from a farming enterprise? Too often people dare not even vocalize this desire because it seems absurd. It's like thinking the unthinkable. After all, the farm population is dwindling. It takes too much capital to start. The pay is too low. The working conditions are dusty, smelly and noisy: Not the place to raise a family. This is all true, and more, for most farmers.

Publisher's summary
Work with nature to consistently grow the highest quality produce—all while doing your part in fighting climate change and helping the environment.
Are you stressed out about…
The seemingly steady decline in both the quantity and quality of your crops?
“Technical farming problems” like soil erosion and biodiversity loss?
Climate change—how you can cope with it, and how you can be part of the solution rather than the problem?
If so, chances are you’re suffering from eco-anxiety…and unfortunately, you have good reason to do so.
According to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), each year, an estimated 24 billion tons of fertile soil are lost due to erosion. That’s a whopping 3.4 tons lost every year for each person on the planet.
This is quite a serious issue, considering the fact that it takes approximately 500 years for a 2.5-centimeter layer of fertile topsoil to form under agricultural conditions—and our food security ultimately depends on soil quality. But the good news is there’s a way to reverse the damage…and you can be part of the solution…through regenerative agriculture! Regenerative agriculture has countless benefits—producing nutrient-dense food, combating climate change, enhancing ecosystem biodiversity, improving air and water quality, huge savings from higher yields, using fewer synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides… the list goes on and on!
Now, if it sounds like you’re going to need technical expertise to do this… don’t worry. Understanding your soil and giving it what it needs doesn’t have to be complicated. Start with this easy-to-listen guide filled with practical advice and information on how to improve your relationship with your soil and get the most out of it! Click "Add To Cart" Now.

Biomimicry is rapidly transforming life on earth. Biomimics study nature's most successful ideas over the past 3.5 million years, and adapt them for human use. The results are revolutionizing how materials are invented and how we compute, heal ourselves, repair the environment, and feed the world. Janine Benyus takes listeners into the lab and in the field with maverick thinkers as they: discover miracle drugs by watching what chimps eat when they're sick; learn how to create by watching spiders weave fibers; and many more examples.

It’s not just dirt…it’s soil
I cannot recommend "Soil Science for Regenerative Agriculture" highly enough. This audiobook is a comprehensive guide to regenerative agriculture that covers a wide range of topics related to soil science, including living soil, no-till gardening, composting, and natural farming.
The section on soil biology helped me understand the vital role of soil health in agriculture. This section provides a deep understanding of the importance of soil health in agriculture, highlighting how the soil is not just an inert medium for holding plants, but rather a complex and dynamic ecosystem that supports plant growth by providing nutrients, water, and air. The section explains how soil biology is essential for maintaining that ecosystem and how understanding the interactions between the various microorganisms in the soil is key to promoting soil health in regenerative agriculture.
The author's passion for regenerative agriculture really shines through in this comprehensive guide. She provides practical tips and a step-by-step action plan to quickly grow soil and improve soil health. This guide will empower anyone looking to improve their relationship with their soil and get the most out of it.
Lastly, I must mention that the narrator was such a pleasure to listen to. Al Pagano was engaging, and the delivery was impeccable, making listening to this audiobook a delightful experience.
Overall, if you're interested in sustainable agriculture and soil health, this audiobook is a must-listen. It's informative, comprehensive, and packed with practical tips that anyone can apply to their garden. Loved learning about Regenerative Agriculture
The Soil Science book is amazing for anyone, like me, seeking to grow high-quality crops, combat climate change and contribute to environmental sustainability. This book addresses common farming concerns, such as declining cop quantity and quality, soil erosion, and biodiversity loss.
With a focus on regenerative agriculture, the book offers practical guidance on working with nature to reverse the damage caused by erosion and enhance soil health. It emphasizes the importance of understanding and providing your soil with the necessary care. Adopting regenerative practices can produce nutrient-dense food, improve ecosystem biodiversity, and reduce reliance on synthetic fertilizers and chemicals.
We recently bought a property and want to grow a lot of our food, but we have a lot of limestone in our ground, so I wanted to be sure I understood the health of the soil and the science behind it. So, whether you are an experienced farmer or just starting, this guide empowers you to positively impact the environment while growing healthier, more sustainable crops.
