Brigid moved back to Cottonwood Springs to be with friends and family when her marriage and her publishing company both ended. When her best friend’s murdered, she’s determined to find the killer. A new romance and an adopted big Newfoundland are pretty comforting at times like these.

When she moved back to Cottonwood Springs after a divorce and the publishing company she was working for went bankrupt, Brigid never thought she’d have a ready-made teenage daughter, a huge Newfoundland dog, and a hunky neighbor who wants to get to know her better, a lot better. But first she has to solve Maggie’s murder. When a woman has stolen money and someone else’s husband, finding her murderer is not everyone’s top priority.

When a mistaken identity murder happens at her sister’s bookstore in Cottonwood Springs, Brigid has no choice. She has to find the person who intended to murder her sister. Not everyone liked her sister, Fiona. Several people could have done it, including the competing bookstore owner, the religious fanatic, the psychic, and her landlady. Now all Brigid has to do is figure out if it was one of them or just a random event. Sometimes it’s a good thing to have a 125-pound Newfoundland dog for a pet, particularly when the creek runs deep and fast.

Planning a wedding is hard enough without having your florist disappear. And it’s even worse when there’s a chance that people engaged in human trafficking may have come to the small town of Cottonwood Springs and she's a victim. When Linc and Brigid agree to host a chili booth at the Summer Carnival, they never thought the day would end in discovering one of their B & B guests, the popular host of the online travel show, Take Five, murdered in the parking lot. But was Micha really all that popular? Someone, actually a lot of people, certainly didn’t think so, and it’s up to Brigid and Sheriff Davis to figure out which one them hated Micha enough to kill him.

When several members of Brigid’s book club are threatened with blackmail and ask her to help them, she can’t refuse. Their secrets are too private to be exposed, so she tries to handle the case on her own, without any help from the sheriff. Her family isn’t so sure she should get involved. The blackmailing case and her marriage are on a collision course, and she doesn’t know what the right thing is to do.

Cold case murder investigations are a lot harder to solve than current murder cases. Particularly when the murder occurred over 15 years ago. But when a friend asks Brigid to investigate a cold case for her in New Mexico, Brigid feels she has to at least try. What she hadn’t taken into consideration were old grudges, a small town that kept secrets, and people who were willing to commit hate crimes to keep those secrets.

There’s a new dog groomer in Cottonwood Springs, and Brigid’s delighted! No more taking her dogs, Jett and Lucky, to an out-of-town groomer. But there are a few problems, like broken statues, dug-up plants, and a very bad word written on a window. Brigid becomes concerned, not only for the safety of the groomer, but also for the neighbors. Because, the more she and Sheriff Davis discover, the more certain they are that someone intends to seriously harm the groomer. They uncover family feuds, revenge for a dog being too friendly, and a person seriously depressed!
