This job is going to be more complicated than usual because of the emotions involved, and that's not even mentioning the hidden complications that none of them could have predicted would happen. I can constantly hear them, the voices. It doesn't matter if I'm in a crowded room or the middle of a desert, I hear them, indistinct voices. I can never really work out what they're saying, and I've long given up trying. Everything changes when my life is threatened again, and the voices quiet, one strong voice telling me to run, so of course, I listen.

It's been two years since Mr. Rising offered Ever and her men the chance to work for them. They've settled into the job now, but by no means have their lives become any less dangerous. The older teams don't like how many high-profile jobs they get, and now there's a mole in their midst—one that threatens everyone who works for Mr. Rising; agents and families are in danger.

Of course, nothing is ever simple, not even a poker game or the trip to the training academy. I end up causing more trouble than I intended to and very nearly end up getting my dead situation found out by an unexpected HID agent.

Farren and her men suddenly find themselves thrust into the next challenge in the Warrior Games, but it appears that the fae world has taken things into her own hands, throwing things their way that they hadn't even thought to prepare for. It doesn't help that she hasn't deemed it necessary to fill them in on the finer details.

At least it means she makes one hell of an entrance when they finally do arrive. Of course a supposed vacation couldn't stay that way for Ever and the guys. With the arrival of Atlas and the mysteries that seem to grow the longer they're around him, including how he not only knows the new bartender in town but gives him orders of a questionable nature that are followed without hesitation but with a knowing smile. Throw in snow storms, assholes, and a hot tub and this vacation is turning into a rollercoaster ride.

They were my entire world, then everything fell apart. I didn't get to say goodbye, I didn't get to explain to them that my dad had finally gone off the deep end. Of course, they wouldn't have understood anyway—we were only eight and I never told them how bad it had gotten. Maybe if I had I wouldn't be in this fucked up situation.

I've got some explaining to do, I know that. I mean, I'd have questions if I were in their position, too. The problem is I don't have any answers for them, and I seem to be unable to keep things to myself when I'm around them, which means I, of course, shared, and now they're panicking about how many times I've died. Silly men. It's not like it's a big deal or anything. Oh wait, it is. Then there's Winston and the spirit guides; I don't even know where to start with them.

That psychopath has taken her, and the only reason we aren't watching the world burn in our grief is because of Grey, or should I say Hades! He has assured us he would've felt her soul depart if she was dead. We're going to get her back and get help from an unlikely place, more mysteries get thrown our way, and somehow throughout it all, we have to remember that we're on a task for the Warrior Games, and fae knows what the fae realm will throw at us next.

She was here, my mother, and now she's lying on the floor, blood pooling around her dead form. Surprisingly, that's not our top concern right now. Our main priority is the bomb strapped to her that's still flashing and armed. I know I said I liked explosives, but it doesn't mean I want to go out that way. We've left Liam alone, assuming that he has dead or somewhere not causing any trouble, this proves otherwise, though and I think it's time we found him and put him away for good.

Luc's hurt and we have no idea what's going on or how long it's going to take for him to recover. Not even Mr. R knows what's poisoned him, and he's refusing to let me pay Luc's father a visit, knowing it would get bloody.

As if taking over the Ravens wasn't going to be complicated enough, Jynx has already taken a job for the leader of the Romanos, and of course, it can't be straightforward. People from their pasts are popping up from all directions, all posing very different threats and entwining them in ways they could have never imagined. Not everything is as it seems, and with more answers come even more questions. At least she can aim her gun at some of the issues; that always makes her feel better. As always, they will rise to the challenge together, their bond strengthening even more.
