Story
Born in 1628, Parisian Charles Perrault was aptly credited as being the “father” of a then-new literary genre: the fairy tale. Often drawing from his own surroundings (the Chateau Ussé was the model for "Sleeping Beauty", while the Marquis of the Château d'Oiron inspired the delightful "Puss-in-Boots"), Perrault originally penned the tales as moral stories for his own three children.

Story
Eddie Hertz is a 12-year-old genius who patrols the streets of Nirvana, hoping to foil the schemes of the evil Mephisto. Being small for his age, Eddie relies on a Batman-style gadgets belt and acrobatic skills as well as street smarts and ingenuity. Eddie has a dream, to become like Damocles, Nirvana's great superhero. To accomplish that goal, Eddie invented a device that theoretically will endow him with superpowers, but using it on himself could be dangerous, maybe even fatal, so he doesn't have the nerve to try it.

Jim and his mother barely escape death when Blind Pew, Black Dog, and other pirates descend on the inn in search of the sea dog’s papers. Jim snatches up a packet of papers to square the sailor’s debt, when they were forced to retreat from the inn.

Although April 2, Andersen's birthday, is celebrated as International Children's Book Day, the beloved Dane and author of more than 138 fairytales, wrote with a depth and sentiment that far exceeded mere bedtime stories. Few tales have been told that match the wit of "The Emperor’s New Clothes", the poignancy of "The Little Match Girl" or the redemptive purity of "The Wild Swans". Story
Born in 1800, William Holmes McGuffey had a remarkable ability to memorize, and could commit to mind entire books of the Bible. After becoming a teacher at the age of 14, classroom size was just one of several challenges faced by McGuffey. In many one-teacher schools, students - ages varied from six to twenty-one, and few textbooks existed. In 1835, a publishing firm asked McGuffey to create a series of graded Readers for primary level students. The series consisted of stories, poems, essays and speeches and it is estimated that at least 120 million copies of McGuffey's Readers were sold between 1836 and 1960.
