TWO AM I

By: Jack Riewoldt & Shane McCurry
  • Summary

  • We are all collectors by nature, holding onto things that are important to us throughout life. Some may have a deep significance, others might be trivial or reveal a hidden talent, but all have a special meaning behind or within them that reflect where we have been, who we are now and who we will become.

This is the essence of TWO AM I – an adventure of stories, told through the lens of two personal items.

Each episode hosts Jack Riewoldt and Shane McCurry chat to extraordinary people about their two special items, their climb of the mountain – and the ups and downs of life – to learn how those moments have shaped who each person really is.

    Why TWO AM I?

    Two hosts: a shared experience.

One guest: and their two special items.

TWO AM I – Who AM I: honest and real conversations about the big questions in life.

    Episode 6: Nazeem Hussain

The son of Sri Lankan migrants, Nazeem Hussain honed his comedic chops in the suburbs of Melbourne in the 1990s, though as you’ll hear, he started giving it a crack when he was very young, right on his front doorsteps as people passed by. After his father left the family, it was his fearless mother who taught him how to use humour to get bullies off his back. And a star was born. Since then, Nazeem has performed around the world, created his own TV show ‘Legally Brown’, hosted his own Netflix special ‘Public Frenemy’ and written a children's book to celebrate his journey into parenthood. This episode will have you laughing, leaning in and leave you feeling lighter.

    Episode 5: Christine Finnegan

Christine Finnegan has had a love of sport since she was a child. Tennis was her game of choice, where on the court she describes as her happy place. She travelled around the country and played the game she loved, but it was the realisation when she was 15 years old that she wanted to run the tournament rather than play in it. And so, she did. Christine has spent the past 25 years in senior roles across Australian sport at the highest level. Now as CEO of the Tasmanian JackJumpers, she’s helped guide the team to its maiden National Basketball League championship after just three years in the competition. While sport plays a huge part of Christine’s life, the pride in and love for her son sits at the top of her list of her greatest achievements.

    Episode 4: Gerard Whateley

Gerard Whateley comes alive when the mic is on but whether he is calling a horserace, covering an Olympics or calling a footy game, he is powered by preparation and just a few nerves, as he says “the nerves show you that it means something to you.” Gerard’s love for sports broadcasting and writing goes back to when he was 13 years old and met his idol and inspiration, horseracing writer Les Carlyon. Since then, he has dedicated his career to that very pursuit, these days as chief sports caller and host of the Whateley program on SEN, co-host of Foxy Footy’s AFL 360 and occasional columnist for the Herald Sun. But dig a little deeper and you will find that Gerard has had his fair brush with Hollywood fame, and the people who inspire him most are found away from the media’s gaze.
