Si tu as écouté l'introduction, ou si tu me connais un peu, tu sais que je suis en train de lancer une marque de mode, Scarlet Empyre. Mais avant de travailler dans la mode, j’étais dans le secteur humanitaire.

En 2016, après mon master, j'ai décroché mon tout premier “vrai” travail en tant que chargée de développement de projet junior. J'étais basée à Tunis, en Tunisie, et je travaillais à distance sur la crise Libyenne. L'année suivante s'est avérée être la plus intense, la plus éprouvante et la plus gratifiante de ma vie. Mais pour faire court, en à peine 8 mois, j’ai fais un gros burnout.

C'est à ce moment-là que ma transition vers le monde de la mode a commencé. Mais, pour y arriver, il m’a fallu deux ans.

If you listened to the introduction, or if you know me at all, you’ll know that I’m right in the process of launching a fashion brand, Scarlet Empyre. But before I ever started working in fashion, I was a humanitarian worker.

In 2016, I got my very first job out of grad school as a junior project development officer. I was based in Tunis, Tunisia, working remotely on the Libya mission. The next year would turn out to be the most intense, harrowing and rewarding year of my life. But to cut a long story short. I burnt out fast and hard. That’s when my transition to the world of fashion began. But it still took me two years before I quit. In this episode, I tell you why.

This year, I decided to launch a fashion brand, SCARLET EMPYRE.

In the first phase of the project, I interviewed about 20 people from my audience. They are between 20 and 50 years old, have all kinds of jobs and come from everywhere. And yet, they all have one thing in common.

On the one hand, the desire, the need, even the obligation to succeed, and on the other hand, never feeling good enough, and working overtime to compensate. I’m talking about the mental load of wanting to please everyone, of having to code switch, of managing sexist, racist or xenophobic comments, of compartmentalizing your life and carefully chose everything you say, do or wear in order to avoid being associated with stereotypes, The list is long and frankly… pretty grim.

So in addition to the brand, I decided to create Reussir X outliers.

This podcast gives you access to mentors and role models who will help you navigate the spaces that aren’t meant to include us, or even choose to opt-out and create new ones. The goal of the podcast is to open unfiltered and constructive conversations on the real or perceived obstacles to success. From Boys clubs to self-censorship, from limiting beliefs to discrimination, from imposter syndrome to culture shock, we talk about everything with humor and empathy.

Every week, I'll share with you, alone or with a guest, the experiences and events that taught us to stop hesitating and instead be bold, take action and learn to feel legitimate.

As its name does not suggest, REUSSIR X OUTLIERS is not an injunction to succeed at all costs, but rather an invitation to be yourself without compromise.
