  • Dual Dynamics: A Serial Entrepreneur on Balancing Growth Between Two Ventures
    Jun 19 2024

How do you choose which of your businesses to pay more attention to, especially if they perform and grow very differently? How can you let go of control in the business you have been running for years to let it outgrow you? These are not easy questions, but my today's guest, Serge Baidin, openly shares about his ups and downs of running two businesses simultaneously.

Serge is a Ukrainian serial entrepreneur and is currently managing two businesses - Bride&Groom.video — a video editing hub , and Markupus — a web development agency.

In this episode, you will learn about:

    • Serge's rocky road of entrepreneurship, overcoming the economic crisis, global pandemic, and full-scale war in his home country
    • how he chose which business to invest more of his time into, based on his background and the companies' growth (I was surprised by this choice)
    • why we all should have mentors and how to get them
    • investing in business growth in good and bad times

  • Purpose Before (Not Instead Of!) Profit: Global CEO's Journey of Meaningful Choices
    Jun 5 2024

Imagine you are running an international, impact-driven business, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (we are talking a multi-million-dollar deal with global impact) lands on your table. Imagine declining that offer because you want to focus on your family and your impact on your nearest and dearest. Are you then crazy? Or selfish? Or, actually, a very mature entrepreneur who walks his talk about being a thought leader and a caring business owner?

This week's guest is Sebastian Bates, who did just that - declined a multi-7-figure deal. Sebastian is the Founder and CEO of the Warrior Academy and The Bates Foundation charity. Originally from the UK, he has over 25 years of experience in 6 different styles of martial arts as well as a strong competition background competing from amateur to professional level both nationally and internationally.

Sebastian originally started Martial Arts as a child to develop his confidence and help him transition through bullying. Now he and his team are helping thousands of children through their challenging transitions every week.

In this episode, you will learn about:

    • Sebastian's contrarian take on bullying that every parent should embrace for themselves and their kids
    • entrepreneurs' special abilities that can become their blessing or a curse
    • choosing an impact that truly matters to you
    • Sebastian's hiring mistakes and learnings about building and nurturing company culture

  • Beyond Good Intentions: Real Leadership Action on Employees' Mental Health
    May 29 2024

Are you a leader who cares about employees? I bet no leader answers "no" to this question. But how many leaders DO care, in action? How do they work with employees' mental health and well-being? When is it time to work on that? And how do they measure their results?

I invited Hrefna Sif Jónsdóttir, Managing Director of Tixly, and Helena Jónsdóttir, Founder of Mental ráðgjöf, to discuss how they worked together on Tixly's culture and their employees' mental health.

In this episode, you will learn about:

  • From Concept to Client: a CEO's Journey to Creating Impact in Mental Health Tech
    May 22 2024

How do you rebuild yourself after a serious injury that challenges your whole identity? How do you decide on your next step as a founder? How do you build something that your clients truly need and will actually use and value? These are some of the questions I discussed with my today's guest, Augusta Klingsten Peytz.

Augusta is the Co-Founder and CEO of the Mental Health Tech start-up Aesel, which offers a SaaS tool for therapists to monitor and visualize the progression of patients. Augusta has a background in venture capital and management consulting. Most recently, she supported a German mental health VC fund and, before that, worked at Boston Consulting Group. Augusta is driven by impact, and Aesel is her 3rd impact start-up. Previously, she founded the Female Leadership Academy - Denmark's largest leadership education for young professionals.

In this episode, you will learn about:

    • Augusta's discovery of a surprising way to remember who you are after an 8-month recovery journey post-concussion
    • her eureka moment that led to the birth of Aesel
    • growing a healthy separation between you as an individual and your startup

  • Overwhelmed As a Leader? 3D Leadership Framework Is Here To Help You
    May 8 2024

Being a leader is very hard. Managers need to navigate the constantly changing business context with new strategic directives, employee turnover, new technology, etc. Outdated one-size-fits-all approaches to leading, irrespective of the team members' background, group dynamic, and leaders' personal needs and preferences. Conflicting priorities of different stakeholder groups that have to be juggled and combined without any adverse effects on the team's productivity. And as a cherry on the cake, the classical lack of time for leader’s important, yet not urgent tasks.

I developed a simple framework and self-assessment that has been helping my clients and workshop participants to get out of overwhelm for over 3 years now. We break the complex leadership role into three dimensions and examine each of them. You quickly see the patterns - what are your strengths that you are ignoring but can leverage even more instead; which areas actually stress you out, and how can you put intentional effort into improving those.
