Eight years ago, Addie Webster was the victim of the most notorious kidnapping of the decade. She vanished - and her high-profile parents were forced to move on.

Mark Webster is now president of the United States and fighting to keep the Oval Office after a tumultuous first term. Then the unthinkable happens: The president's daughter resurfaces. Addie is brought back into the family fold, but who is this 16-year-old girl with a quiet, burning intelligence now living in the White House? There are those in the president's political circle who find her timely return suspicious.

When a national security advisor approaches Darrow Fergusson, Addie's childhood best friend and the son of the president's chief of staff, he doesn't know what to think. How could the girl he's missed for all these years be a threat to national security? Still, at the risk of having his own secrets exposed, Darrow agrees to spy on Addie and soon realizes that his old friend is much more than the traumatized victim of a sick political fringe group. Addie has come with a mission...but will she choose to complete it?

I loved this story. It kept me wondering about who or what was going on. But I thought there was tons of character archs that just seemed unfinished, like loose ends.
I wish there was a sequel. The author definetly set the ending up for one but upon further research, this book is intended as a stand alone. Which even though I'd love to hear more about the Darly and Addy story-- I can't see how much more the author could do without ruining Addy's character arch. But then again, I'm no writer! So, in conclusion, gimmie more!

no sequel?

The ending didn’t make much sense but the build up was good and the characters were interesting. It’s a good listen but don’t expect to be satisfied in all aspects. I think it was meant to have a second book as the ending didn’t really tie anything up

Must have been intended to be a trilogy of shorts

The happy ever-after when the main character as a teenager helps to overthrow the security apparatus needs a better finish

Unfinished

Amazing suspense and political thriller that kept me engaged. Best part was I could listen on a road trip while my kids were in the car.
