The Politics of Trauma offers somatics with a social analysis. This book is for therapists and social activists who understand that trauma healing is not just for individuals - and that social change is not just for movement builders. Just as health practitioners need to consider the societal factors underlying trauma, so too must activists understand the physical and mental impacts of trauma on their own lives and the lives of the communities with whom they organize. Trauma healing and social change are, at their best, interdependent.

For half a century, we have been trained to believe that our right brain hemisphere is our emotional brain, while our left brain houses our rational thinking. Now neuroscience shows that it's not that simple: In fact, our emotional limbic tissue is evenly divided between our two hemispheres. Consequently, each hemisphere has both an emotional brain and a thinking brain. In this groundbreaking new book, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor presents these four distinct modules of cells as four characters that make up who we are.

What Jenna Kutcher embraces is the simple notion that we, women especially, crave lives of fulfillment, lives of enrichment. That comes from investing, first and most importantly in ourselves and in our dreams.

Publisher's Summary
From the award-winning host of the Radically Loved podcast, an invitation to discover the healing power of who you are, body, mind, and spirit.
Growing up in East LA in the '90s, Rosie Acosta dismissed spirituality and wellness as something people like her didn’t do. But after being arrested at age 15, she knew that only a radical change would lead her away from debilitating anxiety and self-doubt. As she puts it, yoga offered her a ladder and she began to climb.
In this empowering and accessible guide, Acosta leads listeners through the essential spiritual practices she uses to create a radically loved life. With the arc of her own journey as a framework, she presents meditations, journaling questions, and practices for identifying and honoring our own radical truths.
With grit and grace, this heart-filled guide makes spiritual practice accessible to everyone and helps you become the person you are truly meant to be.

This book hit me right in the heart. The author provides an entertaining and down to earth approach to spirituality and striving to live your best life. I found this book to be so accessible and REAL. It was truly refreshing to read a book about self love that wasn’t all “good vibes only”. We are real people with real experiences and it’s not always easy to stay perfectly on the path and Rosie Acosta acknowledges that. In a nutshell, this book gave me hope and permission to just be me. Roots Radical
I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who has ever thought that meditation and self-care was not in the cards for them. Not only does Rosie share her own experiences with and strategies for self-doubt and negative self talk, but she doesn’t shy away from the fact that there is no magical “cure all” for it. She reminds us that it’s an ongoing practice and that it’s ok to struggle with it. That’s part of our journey in this cosmic ocean. And “no problem is bigger than that ocean.” Keep it radical✨✨✨

Western society too often trains women out of feeling innately confident in who we are and in the wisdom we hold inside. Instead, we are handed down a set of expectations about our bodies, our disposition, our religious identification, our sexual orientation, our mothering, and our career choices. Dr. Leah Katz draws on her training as a psychologist and her experience leaving an ultra-Orthodox Jewish faith and culture to offer tools and insights for getting "unstuck" from society's expectations for women. It's time to get gutsy and create the rich, vibrant life we have always wanted.

Story
Western society too often trains women out of feeling innately confident in who we are and in the wisdom we hold inside. Instead, we are handed down a set of expectations about our bodies, our disposition, our religious identification, our sexual orientation, our mothering, and our career choices. Dr. Leah Katz draws on her training as a psychologist and her experience leaving an ultra-Orthodox Jewish faith and culture to offer tools and insights for getting "unstuck" from society's expectations for women. It's time to get gutsy and create the rich, vibrant life we have always wanted.

The 365 meditations included in this book offer a way to integrate the mindfulness that yoga teaches into everyday life.

Story
ve all experienced it: that moment when a sudden, undeniable feeling floods us with certainty. Without knowing precisely how, we acquire insight into a situation and understand which path to take. Intuition is one of the most powerful decision-making forces in our possession. Yet instead of tapping into it, we frequently ignore it. We weigh arguments, make lists of pros and cons, and listen to every voice except the one that truly matters: our own.
