About the narrator

Joanne Froggatt is an English stage, film and television actress who shot to fame after her engaging portrayal of Downton Abbey's Anna Bates. Also celebrated for her roles in Dinnerladies, A Street Cat Named Bob, Murder in the Outback and Liar, Joanne has now been acting for over 20 years and brings a wealth of expertise to her narratives. Having voiced an Alice in Wonderland series as well as Audible's 2017 Thriller of the Year, Silent Child, Joanne succeeds once more in delivering an incredibly engaging performance in this unique and exquisite adaptation of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights.

Perfect narrator

Although I have read this book several times, this experience has by far been my favorite. Recommended.

Joanne does a fantastic job as narrator

Such a delightful voice and what a dark and rich story. I could not stop listening.

Excellent performance!

This is a dark, brooding story, but Joanne Froggatt is wonderful reading it. The voices for different characters were very effective, almost as if performed by a whole cast.

not a sweeping love story; full of people treating each other disdainfully. Narration was excellent

Made me love Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights was never my favorite of the Bronte sisters’ work. It just never captivated my attention well, but this rendition changed that. Narration was beautiful and impressive as each character had a distinct feel. Great work!

Truly enjoyed this one. And hated most of the characters!

I really enjoyed this book and it’s narrator. There were times I was so mad at how horrible the people were that I almost couldn’t stand to listen to it anymore! But of course I wanted to know what happened and I was not disappointed in it’s story or ending! Really didn’t see that coming. Out of all the classic Halloween stories I’ve listened to this season, this one stands out as a clear winner to me! Long and enjoyable (and infuriating!) I can see why it’s a classic. (This is the only Brontë book I’ve read so far)

Absolutely phenomenal reading!

The story is incredibly imaginative and also disturbing. Romantic in the sense of its themes, but the characters themselves certainly don't lead "romantic" lives.No wonder people were stunned to discover the identity of the author: Emily Bronte created some real devils with hardly an angel among them. Joanne Frogatt's reading is brilliant!

I’m not sure why this is a classic.

After 7 hours, I couldn’t bare another minute. How has this book been so popular for so many years?! I did enjoy the narrators performance of the characters though, that’s the one plus.

Classic Performance

The narrator has done a superb recounting of this classic work by Emily Bronte. I felt like I was hearing it for the first time. Excellent!

Not My Favorite English Novel

It wasn't until I was half way through this recording that I realized the book had two characters speaking in first person - one male and one female. By then the book had lost my interest and attention. 😕
