Publisher's Summary

The time has come for Leman Russ, primarch of the Space Wolves, to fulfil his vow and attempt to stop Warmaster Horus before he breaks through to the Segmentum Solar.

In the face of opposition from three of his brother primarchs, Russ withdraws the Space Wolves legion from Terra and makes all haste for Horus’ position. Reports from Malcador the Sigillite’s agents suggest that Horus is utterly changed and infused with a diabolical power so great that no man can stand against him. A warrior of Fenris would never willingly abandon his oaths, but with Horus beyond the touch of mortal blades, the Lord of Winter and War may have doomed himself for the sake of honour....

Fenris Hjolda!!!

The story is great. Russ is an amazing character and this book gives a deeper look into Russ, Horus and their relationship with the Emperor. I really enjoyed it and would suggest it for any Space Wolf fan.

Russ is a lovable idiot.

i liked it but the main flaw was that it sought to explain the rational of a stupid decision...

Stunned

Prior to this book I had deceloped a growing distaste for the Space Wolves. The Vilka Fenrika certainly changed that during this book. This book will not disappoint and as always the narration by Keeble is some of the best around.

By Far The Best

By far the best best HH novel I’ve heard! Keeble really brings these characters life plus this story made sense of a lot of questions I had. Thank you.

Must read for fans of the Rout

Space Wolves fans will really get a kick out of this one. Guy Haley ties together some of the oldest Black Library novels with the Horus heresy here. Big fan of his work and hoping to see more from him!

A lot of fun

This is a lot of fun from start to finish. It is a good mix of tech battle with religious intrigue and there is a lot of testosterone fueled conflict in both arenas. Don't read this book if you are really into female characters. Do read this book if a story about super people in super armor fighting a super spirit on behalf of a super machine strikes your fancy.

Like a perfect drinking horn of mjod.

Guy Haley does great justice to the Space Wolves and Leman Russ. the Side Story about belisarius is equally compelling and I never minded being separated from one story to the other because both were so fascinating.

Fantastic installment

Another excellent addition as the series heads towards the siege of Terra as always the narrator gives an extra edge to the story.

Great book

After having listened to so many in the series, wolfsbane was like a B12 shot of badass much needed. An engaging book from the get go, shedding some interesting light on an interesting primarch. The fatalism of what Russ wants to do is prevalent throughout as it leads up to the final conflict. If you’re a Space Wolf fan you’ll love it but this one is in the top ten for the series and worth a read even if you’re not a fan of the space Vikings.

Prospero Burns, Burns

Disappointing after Dan Abnett and Chris Wraight set the wolves up really well. Feels the dimension they give was undone. Too much of another 40k character in there.

The third act is ok, but the major issue I had was the motives behind it.

A certain arrival in the first act and meeting was my favourite part of the book.

Awesome!

Seeing Russ back in action again always makes for a great story, showing Cawl's origins was also a nice surprise. Jonathan Keeble's narration brings these books to life, especially liked Freendish(?sp)!

A wolfing good time.

Really enjoyed this book, and im not usually a Space Wolf fan. Guy Haley did a really good job bringing them to life in a well considered and engaging way in this book.

I didnt particuarly rate his author work before this book, but ill keep an eye out from now on.

Vlka fenryka like you've not seen them before

Outstanding story, this book adds a depth to the vlka fenryka unlike any prior stories about the legion. It's worth noting that there is a lot of assumed knowledge as this story is part of the larger Horus Heresy saga and is set in later stages of the holistic storyline.

Revisionist history

Leman Russ's lack of remorse casts his character in an unsympathetic light. Interest story nonetheless.

Wolfsbane audiobook is so immersive.

This book brought alive the vlka fenryka like i have never known before. Jonathan Keeble did such an amazing job he should be commended for his talent and skill.

Any fans of the space wolves MUST listen to this. It is too good to pass up.

The only thing that would have made it better would have been some of the background sound effects similar to the other warhammer 40k audio books.
