Publisher's Summary

The time has come for Leman Russ, primarch of the Space Wolves, to fulfil his vow and attempt to stop Warmaster Horus before he breaks through to the Segmentum Solar.

In the face of opposition from three of his brother primarchs, Russ withdraws the Space Wolves legion from Terra and makes all haste for Horus’ position. Reports from Malcador the Sigillite’s agents suggest that Horus is utterly changed and infused with a diabolical power so great that no man can stand against him. A warrior of Fenris would never willingly abandon his oaths, but with Horus beyond the touch of mortal blades, the Lord of Winter and War may have doomed himself for the sake of honour....

Russ is a lovable idiot.

i liked it but the main flaw was that it sought to explain the rational of a stupid decision...

Fenris Hjolda!!!

The story is great. Russ is an amazing character and this book gives a deeper look into Russ, Horus and their relationship with the Emperor. I really enjoyed it and would suggest it for any Space Wolf fan.

pretty good

Jonathan Keeble does top notch narration as always.

Some of the early parts about the mechanicum are a bit slow, but its an otherwise compelling book all the way through.

The End is Nigh!!

Great addition to the Heresy novels. Performance was awesome as each character sounded quite distinct. The story was solid and the reasoning behind Russ' character was true to form. Awesome audio book!

Holy Sh*t this is what the HH needed!

I slept on Guy Haley and never gave him a chance when reading from the BL. This man launched the story forward and somehow did it with dignity and gore. Grounded characters brought to life by the fabulous Jonathan Keeble. If you've been bored away from the HH this will motivate you to jump back into fight.

Fantastic Book

Answers a lot of questions about what the Space Wolves we’re doing leading up to the battle for Terra. It presents a nice middle ground that fans of both the Luna and Space Wolves would like for their legions.

Best for Vlka Fenryka

Burning of Prospero was ok compared to this great tale of the Vlka Fenryka. It takes place soon after Prospero and the story focuses on a few specific Wolves but mostly a side to Russ that is necessary to truly understand the honor of the Legion. A lack of action in the first half is made up by the multitude of important characters from other novels. The action of the second half is very exciting and well written.

Stunned

Prior to this book I had deceloped a growing distaste for the Space Wolves. The Vilka Fenrika certainly changed that during this book. This book will not disappoint and as always the narration by Keeble is some of the best around.

Another excellent addition as the series heads towards the siege of Terra as always the narrator gives an extra edge to the story.

Amazing

Probably out of all the Black Library audiobooks this one was my favourite and stuck with me the most.
Quite a deep complex character is Leman Russ, the story really built his and his legions character.

not a big fan of the Wolves but this book has made me warm to them. In love with Cawl's sub-plot.

A satisfying addition to the series.I

I really enjoyed this novel. The action is well described, the characterisation well handled especily of Russ & Bjorn.

The addition of a character who will play a significant role later came as a surprise but added something to the mix. The performance was top notch and gave real distinction between the characters.

To be more critical, as a long time 40K fan, this is a serious and seemingly pointless rst-con. I doubt it actually adds much to the story other than to explain why the Space Wolves were otherwise engaged at Terra. The main battle is Bolter porn on a quite ridiculous, if superfically satisfying nature.. Nonetheless it is well written and excellently performed.

Great book

After having listened to so many in the series, wolfsbane was like a B12 shot of badass much needed. An engaging book from the get go, shedding some interesting light on an interesting primarch. The fatalism of what Russ wants to do is prevalent throughout as it leads up to the final conflict. If you’re a Space Wolf fan you’ll love it but this one is in the top ten for the series and worth a read even if you’re not a fan of the space Vikings.

Vlka fenryka like you've not seen them before

Outstanding story, this book adds a depth to the vlka fenryka unlike any prior stories about the legion. It's worth noting that there is a lot of assumed knowledge as this story is part of the larger Horus Heresy saga and is set in later stages of the holistic storyline.

Revisionist history

Leman Russ's lack of remorse casts his character in an unsympathetic light. Interest story nonetheless.

Wolfsbane audiobook is so immersive.

This book brought alive the vlka fenryka like i have never known before. Jonathan Keeble did such an amazing job he should be commended for his talent and skill.

Any fans of the space wolves MUST listen to this. It is too good to pass up.

The only thing that would have made it better would have been some of the background sound effects similar to the other warhammer 40k audio books.
