Publisher's summary

She's been in a coma for years. How can she be pregnant?

When a coma patient starts to have contractions and gives birth to a baby boy, the child's arrival triggers an investigation into serious sexual assault.

Detectives McQuillan and Blalock are handed the case, while the internal hospital team collects data to help with the investigation.

When Dr. Angela Crawford, who helped deliver the baby, learns that the child will be put in foster care, she and her husband agree to take the little boy in.

Meanwhile, a young nurse, Jenny O'Hearn, helps compile data on the rapist and discovers several strange things. When Jenny is attacked, it forces the detectives to look at the case from a different perspective.

Could a staff doctor, male nurse, or the chaplain be the rapist?

Sometimes the truth isn't always obvious.

Great story but mediocre narrator

Story line was great, but the narrator “stomped” on every word making it hard to listen to except in increments. I lost count of how many times ‘Dilaudid’ was mispronounced. Maybe would have been a better read than listen but the story was good!

Couldn't get past narrator...returned book

I really wanted to listen to this book. The plot intrigued me, but after listening for 1.5 hours, I returned the book. The narrator overshadows a good storyline. Unfortunate.

Crazy Story

NO SPOILERS! This book held my attention and had some good twists but many I worked out early. The narrator is very annoying. She sounds like an idiot when speaking as a male. I think having her as a narrator hurts the book instead of enhancing it.

Could have been great...COULD HAVE

First the narrator is terrible. Male voices are complete joke. It's as if she is channeling WC Fields. The plot and storyline are great and why I got the book even though I knew the narrator was going to be terrible. BUT the storytelling is subpar as well. The author explains everything to the listener/reader as if we have Asperger's disease and don't understand why someone would be upset over something. I'm glad I listened to it because the plot is a fascinating pretty original to me idea. But the storytelling of it really hurt the book. I hope some other author takes this plot and tells it better.

hands down a captivating book

I was hook the moment I started the book. the story line was not dragged out. it had you guessing who it might be that caused the crime, and not at all who I thought it was at the end. this was by far a very captivating book.

Great storyline...

Had me on the edge of my seat. I sure wasn't expecting that ending. I would definitely listen to more of McGarvey Black's books!

The narrator is boring and monotonous

Not much to say. Guessed the ending in chapter 2. This is not an original story. Unfortunately horrible things in hospitals

Kept me guessing. Thought I had it figured out until nearly the end. Worth a credit.
