Out of character BS
A bit of a spoiler that has NOTHING to do with the story and should just be removed.
Serious, smart, and practical MC letting an unusually smart and malicious horse constantly try to kill his cousin because... the author thinks it’s funny. It was idiotic and pulled you out of the story. It kicks him IN THE HEAD completely intentionally so hard he lisps for a month. This is after it attacks him a bunch. Made the whole group seem stupid. Not haha silly, just stupid.

Great sequel, good pace, lots of action and a fair amount of humor. If you like fantasy, I would recommend giving this series a try.

This a great job by Travis Baldree, Love hearing his voice!! The story is a wonderful one that keeps you engaged and enthralled on every page, can't recommend it enough to those who enjoy cultivation novels like Cradle! Can't wait for book 3!!!!

Moves the story forward nicely
Jim and his fellowship move forward to warn the kingdoms of the coming of the nox incursion while encountering various challenges along the way. I particularly liked the part where Michael Head had the king attempt to throw Jim under the bus after Jim actually saved his life. It was an unexpected interesting bit of intrigue. Another interesting part is where one of the likable key fellowship characters is sidelined due to a near death encounter that partially ruined his core. This type of loss makes the story more realistic and leaves me wanting to continue a series to see how it unfolds going forward.
Have I mentioned how gifted Travis Baldree is as a narrator? Why, yes, yes I have. However, in this situation it bares repeating.

Another great MDP series!!!
This was my first series with cultivation magic and I really enjoy the style of story telling and the world building of the vast empire. The author does a great job at making the magic play off of that and it all becomes a vivid story

Loved every second of this book, the mc hand out asswoopings left right and center, uses skill and future knowledge to dominate foes above his own level. A must listen to for cultivator fans and not!

Good book, can't wait for more
Another great book. Both the story and character development in this one are good. They are progressing in a darker direction but for a reason, it doesn't feel tacked on. The naive and light hearted nature of the main character and the comedic moments really take the pressure off the reader though so you don't feel dragged down by it.
A bit shorter than the previous book and events progressed pretty rapidly, skipping a bunch of time so it felt even shorter than it was.
Looking forward to Ocean of Tears.
