Publisher's Summary

I’m in love with my best friend.

Lie.

I’m in love with my enemy.

Truth.

But they’re the same.

They. Are. The. Same.

Lines in my world are blurry between fantasy and reality. Truth and lies. Love and hate.

Copeland Justice is my enemy. My once best friend. The sadist in my heart plucking and pulling at every thread of who I am until I’m unraveled at his feet.

His mouth says he hates me. His eyes burn with animosity for me. His heart beats for someone else.

But Copeland Justice is the best liar of us all.

While this wasn't what I expected at all from K. Webster, I still loved it. I guess when I see this author I expect dark & twisty and the title suggests that too but really this book isn't that at all. This is more a Contemporary Romance LGBT New Adult'ish book.

I love MM, I love Friends to Lovers & I love K. Webster's writing style so this book was 100% right up my alley. Penn & Cope made me fall in love. Even though its a bit rocky in the beginning, their Love story is so sweet & HOT!! I loved that they grew so much in this book and that once they both knew how they felt, it was them against the world. The ending was beautiful, the perfect kind of HEA.

The narration was PERFECTION as always with Jacob & Teddy working together. These two are both amazing narrator and together they truly are an awesome team.

Wicked Lies Boys Tell

The story itself was pretty great I loved the characters and how they related to each other. Their chemistry is off the charts HOT. It was a little like Frenemies type of romance.
Cope and Penn have a pretty tumultuous relationship, Penn doesn’t want to admit who he is and Cope needs him to.

They really struggle with their renewed friendship and what it all means. I kind of love that they had to struggle to find out who they were and how they were going to be or if they were going to act on it. Both fathers my gosh were not parents I would wish on any of my worst enemies they were both equally as bad.

I will say I kind of expected something dark and twisty being who the author is and the title name I don’t know what I was expecting but I guess it wasn’t just a contemporary romance. I still really enjoyed the book and loved the epilogue.

The narration was freaking perfect, I love both of these narrators and the fact that we get them in a MM romance makes my heart very happy.

The most lies we will ever tell in our lives...

... will be to ourselves. – Carla H. Krueger

Wicked Lies Boys Tell by K Webster is a Standalone, GFY (gay for you), Angsty , Slow Burn, MM, New Adult, Friends-to Enemies-to Lovers Romance , about two 18 years old in their last year of HS.

A fast paced , emotional , coming of age , drama filled and smutty love story self discovery and self acceptance. About family the one you born to and the one you make. And about love, friendship and being true to oneself.

Penn and Copeland , the MC, have been best friends since they were toddlers until they weren't. And for two years now, they been trying to exist with the loneliness , emptiness , the apathy and the lies of not being in each other lives.

So , when an act of chivalry, a drunken fist fight , a broken hand and a makeout session , with someone else in a movie theater bathroom brings the two ex best friends, back together , opening their eyes to their truth. Penn and Cope will do and say everything to be together.

Did I mention this audio is sultry? Well, just the UST - unresolved sexual tension- , the anticipation , the heated looks these two MC put the listener through is enough to burn a forest. And when, they finally, get together , watch out and have a fire extinguisher , nearby 😜 it gets hot AF 😍 You have been warned.

I'm utterly , irrevocably ; I am talking about - Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs -crazy about Penn and Cope the heroes of Wicked Lies Boys Tell and one of the top reason is because Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan brought them to LIFE with their spectacular narration.

I enjoyed listening to this romantic , admittedly a bit OTT love story . For being Webster second or third MM book , I think she did good. I hope she continues writing in this genre.

Credit well spent .

Hamilton and Morgan together again!

The best thing about this book is the narration. Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan are the best in the business and it shows as you listen to this book. Pitch perfect, both of them.

This is an MM love story set in high school. Two former best friends had a falling out years earlier, but events force them into proximity and they patch things up. As they get close again, deeper feelings happen and they spend most of the book dealing with the confusion one of them experiences because of those feelings. Both boys are smart and likable, if a little testosterone-impaired. They are both fairly realistic characters, and I wanted them to be happy. I liked their part of the story, and luckily that's the majority of the book.

Most of the rest of the characters are pretty much caricatures, especially the boy's two fathers. They are controlling and just plain cruel, and the one dad in particular is basically a psychopath. They were written in a heavy-handed way and I found them to be unbelievable, quite frankly. The one dad sets up a situation in order to force his son to conform to his will, but it's a really bizarre and unrealistic thing for any parent to do to their kid, even if they hate the kid. So, much credibility is lost in that plot thread.

The mothers barely appear in the story, and both are portrayed as weak and passive. There is another female character who is a classic bitch, but she's mostly so full of histrionics it's hard to take her seriously, either. Nearly everyone except a female friend of the two boys are so over the top that they were essentially jokes.

To sum up: FABULOUS narration, likable MCs, enjoyable romance, and utterly ridiculous secondary characters and plot devices. if you can overlook the latter, you might find that the former is worth the listen.

Incredible narrators!

These two are probably two of my favorite narrators and when you put them together in one book they are explosive. While I wasn't sure about this book in the beginning, both characters are in high school, I quickly forgot that issue and got caught up in their story. If you're unsure about this book I would highly recommend giving it a try.

Absolutely fantastic.

Such a great story. Loved it from beginning to end. The epilogue was perfect.

And oh my god... Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan could read me the phonebook and I’d be happy. Their voices are phenomenal.

Great actors with not much to work with

Performances were fantastic. It’s a high school gay for you romance where one of the main characters makes one of the most unbelievable turns from complete homophobic dick to gay for you without much of anything. Jacob Morgan can only do so much. I just didn’t buy the romance at all.

One of my favorite scenes has straight guy begging gay guy to start dating guys so they can go back to being friends. So their girl friend calls up one of the only 2 gay guys at their school. The clean one. Cuz the other one is a skank who sleeps around. He just happens to be free and shows up at the movies 10 min later. Of course because they are both gay they make out within 10 min of seeing each other in a bathroom. Straight guy gets jealous while my eyes roll back into my head.

I was so exited for this book but this was one of my biggest disappointments.

But as an audiobook experience you can’t get better than Jacob Morgan and Teddy Hamilton.

Absolutely Amazing!!!

💙💜 We’re Penn and Cope,” I tell him, with a peck to his lips. “Best friends. Like always. Two tornadoes. But instead of bouncing off each other and wreaking havoc alongside the other, we’ve become one. Unstoppable.” 💜💙

This book is well recommended in our audio book groups 💖 and I get why now! What a great story!

This is Cope and Penn’s story. They were childhood best friends who stopped talking for 2 years and inevitably get back in each other’s lives.
I’m not gonna lie, Cope drove me crazy on the first few chapters. He was full of seemingly-cruel jabs towards Penn. As the story goes on, it quickly becomes clear that the poor thing is clearly confused and puts up his walls of lies. Penn is a darling. I just wanted to hug him and protect him from his d*ckface of a father!

There were some twists and turns, lots of family drama and some small-town high school gossip.
The world-building was very relatable in the way it’s written.

I specially enjoyed Cope and Penn fall madly in love with each other, with Cope finally caving up after all the “practicing”. I love how strong their love is, solidly built from years of friendship. They stuck together despite whatever curveball was thrown at them.

Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan really did wonderful in this story. Their narration brought so much life out of the story. Teddy’s voice captures Penn’s hopeless romantic nature. Jacob’s voice captures Cope’s rough & tough exterior but vulnerable nature. Both narrators did excellent! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Five wicked stars for this story!

This one is tough for me

This story is about high school boys. I didn't know that going in, and the reason I mention it is because I felt suffocated by their story with their parents and high school. I know we're supposed to feel that way, but it was almost nonstop, so an exhausting read. I also was not convinced how quickly Cope changed. This had most of it's scenes with the boys alone in one of their rooms which added to me feeling stifled. I think K Webster is definitely a talented writer, perhaps I will check out a different book and see how it goes. The two narrators are two of my favs and they were awesome.

Wow......just....wow

I do this to myself, everytime I get into a book I read this in a day then kick myself because it will take ages to find another masterpiece like this! I've recently read "without you" with the same Teddy Hamilton narrating it, he is suberb, very believable, and with the fabulous Jacob Morgan too for this one. Although this story mirrors "without you" in a similar "I'm not gay" storyline which I'm finding I'm attracted to, it's much more than this, its love, its passion, it grabs you throws you around and puts you back together again, it's believable, and at a lot of times quite graphic and raunchy, and in this day and age we still have homophobia, this is what happens when people are still forced to hide their feelings to their family and friends. Read this it will show you emotions you've never felt before. Simply put this book is outstanding.

Fantastic! 🔥

I think K Webster did an amazing job with this book. All sorts of emotions throughout.
I Really loved the tight bond they both had. Even when Cope was his 'enemy', you could still feel the emotional pull they had on one another and the love...oh my!
on the other side, I felt so much freaking anger towards their abusive, controlling, power hungry, moronic parents.
2 Amazing narrators. Couldn't have been paired better. well done Teddy & Jacob.

Wow, just WOW!

I’ve listened to some amazing books on Audible and then I stumbled upon this following a Facebook recommendation and it has officially taken my number 1 spot. Normally I’m not a big fan of OTT sex in books as it can be quite cringe worthy but in this it works, more so because of the deep emotion between the characters.

This book has had my heart beating out of my chest and my pulse racing. Stunning work by the author and great narration. This book is a MUST listen. So stop reading the reviews and get started.

Finished in one day

One of the best MM romances I’ve ever read. The perfect combination of friendship, love, angst & darkness. I would usually avoid anything set in high school but it 100% works here. Some of the hottest scenes I’ve ever heard and incredible narration, as always, from Teddy Hamilton & Jacob Morgan (to be honest, they could read out the phone book and I’d still listen). Listened to the entire audiobook in less than a day.

Wow what can I say? This book is amazing. With a great storyline and brilliantly written characters it’s swept me away in this modern day fairytale. An absolutely brilliant performance from both narrators that really does emphasise how good the book is.

What a struggle...

This book came so highly recommended and it was so disappointing. The narrators were amazing, and are the only reason I finished the book instead of asking for a refund.
The story was just beyond ridiculous. I guess if you like daytime soap drama this would be the book for you, but it's not my thing.
