Publisher's Summary

Nikolai

My rules when it comes to my job in personal protection are pretty simple:

  1. Protect the client’s life, not their feelings.
  2. Don’t put hands on a client unless you’re getting them out of harm’s way.
  3. For God’s sake, don’t do something stupid like fall in love.

Twenty-four hours after meeting Jude Archer, rules one and two are already out the window.

Thankfully, there’s no chance of falling for the callous businessman who cares more about his next deal than he does his own safety.

Jude may have managed to make fools of all the guys his wealthy boss and rumored lover has hired to watch him, but he’s playing in the big leagues now. The son of a bitch might not value his life, but I’m pretty fond of mine.

Time to teach the clueless Jude Archer a few hard lessons....

Jude

My rules for success aren’t for everyone, but they should be.

  1. Work hard.
  2. When you’re on the verge of giving up, work harder. Life owes you nothing. You have to take what you want.
  3. For God’s sake, don’t do something stupid like get distracted by feelings.

With just weeks between me and the closing of the deal that will give me everything I want, I don’t have time to worry about a supposed stalker who hasn’t had the balls to do anything more than send a few threatening letters to my wealthy boss.

Sure, I sent a few so-called bodyguards packing. Even if I thought I was in serious danger, I can’t have someone watching me 24/7. My life works the way it does for a reason and no one, not even the gorgeous Russian ex-soldier who thinks he can scare me into submission, is going to change that.

Nikolai Falkov thinks he has something to teach me? Yeah, good luck with that.

Such an amazing listen

Gah!! I swear Sloane Kennedy is a mastermind and always pulls the strings in my heart with her stories. Jude and Nikolai are no exception. I love getting to see how characters grow to trust each other and have such passion and develop the feelings and fall in love. This story is exciting and has so many feels. Michael Dean—I love your voice and how you bring the characters to life. Such a great listen with a good story.

Fabulous

Does Sloane Kennedy write bad books? You’d think after all these security books she wouldn’t be able to surprise me, or make me fall in love. But she does every time.

Loved the main characters. I thought Jude was phenomenal. And the storyline was typical Sloane but still great.

Of course Michael Dean on narration was perfection again. Always love listening to him and can’t imagine him not narrating a Sloane Kennedy now.

Kinda Blah

I do enjoy Michael Dean but some of his voice are too much. His Russian accent is so over the top I laughed. He uses the same voices in all his books (which is why I often skip those books).
Jude has issues that at first seem to make him an ass, but once his issues come to life he is still seems to bean ass.
Also, love doesn't make medical issues just disappear. you can be in love and still have ADHD.
oh, and the plot in this was week.

A Hot & Heartwarming Bodyguard M/M Romance

You're going to enjoy the story of these two men and the slow building heat between them! Micheal Dean does a great job of pulling you into their world with his portrayal of the two main characters. The first Jude Archer seems to be a smooth. cold, calculating and, somewhat, cruel young upward seeking excutive. The other, Nikolai is a tough, gruff, no nonsense bodyguard trainor and recruiter for the small security startup, Smithfield Security.

Billionaire Hays is looking for protection for Jude, his up-and-coming executive, after Jude has managed to evade or elude four different body guard's from Hays ' current security agency Premier on several occasions. After giving two Smithfield Security bodyguards multiple times, Mike, owner of Smithfield, best friend and boss of Nik, tells Nik if they lose Hays' business they'll lose Smithfield, and begs Nikolai to takeover Archers detail.

And so the fun begins...Is Jude the cold fish he seems to be, is there some age gap romance going on between Hays and Archer, who's threatening Jude and why, what's going on with Nikolai's family?

I have yet to find a book written by Sloane Kennedy that I haven't loved and this one is no exception. Whether you choose to read the kindle version or listen to the audible narrated by Michael Dean (one narrator I never miss an opportunity to pick up when I find him, er, any audible that is). I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Amazing as always

I love Sloan Kennedy’s work and this was another amazing story with great characters. Michael Dean was outstanding with the narration, he is always so great at using his voice and tone and inflection to bring the emotions of each character and situation through the words so the listener can feel it.

Just ok for me...

I struggled with the narration. I felt like he was yelling the sex scenes which was distracting.

I enjoyed the development of the personalities in this story. But the plot line needed more cohesion. What kept them apart in the beginning and at the climax seemed like a few nothingburgers with a side of angst.

NICE ROMANCE

Good author and great narrator.
This is not a 'who dunnit'. The mystery here is in the main characters and not the plot. It is very 'feel good' romantic but not a crime drama or mystery.

Annoying

I found this book very hard to finish. Michael Dean is his usual good job of narration but the story itself just annoyed me.

Jude was a complete a$$ for the first half, then neither of them even talked to each other for the second half. I mean does he, doesn’t he. I want you I don’t want you. Come on just have a real conversation.

Just not my cup of tea.

A real let down

Where one would expect a story about strength, support and solid masculinity, one gets histrionics, hyperbole and little else. The reading is also of the gasping and exaggerated type which only adds to the weaknesses evident in the book.
This is amongst the worst examples of lazy commercial writing that I have yet experienced. It is a real let down.

enjoyable

I always enjoy Michael Dean's performances. Sadly in this one the voices were a little inconsistent which was a shame, but nothing too distracting. I loved Jude's voice at the start and almost cried when it wasn't maintained for the rest of the book. Still worth the listen though.

The story was very enjoyable.
