War's Passion is the first in a new seductive series that merges Greek mythology and dragons with the contemporary world.
After losing her parents in a brutal attack by a monster straight out of her nightmares, Gwendolyn Preston tries to pick up the shattered pieces of her life. Along with her best friend, she moves to a small fishing village on the coast of Maine to find a new life away from the nightmares that haunt her. Just when she believes her life could go back to normal, the deliciously dark and handsome Markus Sullivan disrupts her hopes to grieve in peace. Markus drew the short straw when it came to being the liaison between his father, Ares--god of war--and his brothers. When he discovers that the earthbound demigods, known as the descendants, have banded together to start another rebellion against the gods, it becomes his number -ne priority to stop them. That is until he meets Gwen, the granddaughter of Aphrodite and the next target of the descendants. Together their path is rife with passion and danger. It might take more than the son of war to win this battle...Gwen herself.©2014 Lia Davis (P)2015 Lia DavisListeners also enjoyed...
War's Passion introduces us to the sons of Ares--dragon shifters and the only surviving warriors "born" when the teeth of Ares' slain dragon were sown in the ground. The brothers live together in a castle on top of a hill on the coast of Maine...
(I know. She had me at "coast of Maine". Throw dragons into the mix and I'm a goner.)
One of the brothers has gone astray, however--Gerrick is creating an army of demigods and plans to wage war on Olympus. Obviously, Markus and his other brothers can't let that happen. Their mission becomes even more urgent when Gerrick sets his sights on two women under their protection: Gwen, granddaughter of Aphrodite, and Elle, daughter of Nix.
(Each of whom are destined to be mated to a Son of War, naturally. This is Gwen and Markus's story--Elle's is still too come.)
War's Passion establishes the world in which the series takes place and sets up the background of the impending war, introducing (or at least mentioning, in the case of a few of the demigods) the main players. It's definitely a series book, and should be read first--Gwen and Markus reach a HEA of sorts, but Gerrick is still very much a threat at the story's end. Ashlynn, a daughter of Artemis and a woman with mysterious motivations in this book, is in real danger. It's not a cliffhanger ending, exactly, but it definitely leaves you wanting to get to book two.
The narrator did an excellent job--male and female voices are nicely differentiated, and his pacing and inflection were good. I'm looking forward to hearing more from this series!

Any additional comments?
This is a new series about Ares son's and they are dragon shifters so I think that is pretty cool. Gwen is a demi goddess and has been traumatized by the death of her father at the hands of a dragon. Now she has dragons protecting her, but she realizes the differences between these brothers and the one that killed her father. Aphrodite's is Gwen's grandmother and ask Marcus to protect her.
Not long after Marcus meets Gwen he realizes he has found his mate but there is a curse put upon them by Zues when it comes to relationships.
Marcus's brother Gary is the evil Dragon trying to awaken demi gods powers so he can make an army to fight the Gods. He needs Gwen because of her powers.
This one was short and a really fast listen. The romance was a bit quicker than I prefer but it was a whole finding my mate type thing. All in all I really enjoyed it and can't wait to check out the next one. This is definitely a series that you have to read in order because even if the romance between characters are resolved the Gary and his minions story-line isn't.
I enjoyed it.

This is just the beginning of what appears to be an exciting series about some of the Greek Gods/Godesses and their progeny. This book shows us that Gwen is related to Aphrodite. A black dragon is after her after he killed her parents. She and her best friend Elle have been running for years. Elle is also related to one of the Godesses (Nix).
Marcus is the oldest dragon "son" of the God of War-Ares. The sons of war were sent to earth as a punishment. They were also given the task to watch over humanity. One of Marcus's brothers, Garreth, is the cause of all of the problems.
Read this book to find out what is going on and how human descendants play a huge part in saving both Olympus and Earth.
Very good
