Publisher's summary

I don’t do commitment. And though I swing both ways, I don’t do men either.
It’s too messy, too stressful, and just asking for trouble.

I’d rather shine bright like the sun than drown in the rain, so I adopt a pounce-and-bounce lifestyle for which my sparkling charm keeps me from being hated.

When I show up in Sweden for a semester abroad, I expect a roomie. What I don’t expect is Lars. The storm to my sun. The test of my patience. How easy he makes it to forget all my reasons for staying away from guys.

No big deal. I’ll just pivot from pounce and bounce to roomies with benefits. I’ll get to indulge in that side of me, then leave it half a world away. What happens in Sweden stays in Sweden… until he follows me home.

Lars shows up at Westbrook looking like my little brother’s new swim bro. Just as alluring as he did before.

And all I can do is ask myself, WTF?

My resolve for an uncomplicated, stress-free life isn’t something I’m willing to give up for anyone, even if his icy-blond hair begs for my fingers and those pale-blue eyes are haunted by shadows.

I might be the sun, but I am not his sun, and it’s not my job to chase away whatever sent him running here. He swears it isn’t me. But I’m calling bullshit. Why else would he show up on my turf?

But then shit starts happening, and the shadows in his eyes turn to panic. I catch a glimpse of the bruises on his creamy, flawless skin.

I can’t keep him at arm’s length anymore. I don’t want to. Protecting him means surrendering to everything I always refused. His destruction or mine.

The choice is simple, so achingly absolute that I can’t help but wonder once more…

WTF?

Please note that WTF contains stalking and domestic abuse (not between the main characters). There is also mention of (off-page) parental death. Some listeners may find these things uncomfortable.

WTF is part of the Westbrook Elite series but can be listened to as a standalone.

Lars and Win

We head back to Westbrook to continue our suspenseful saga with the Elite. Lars is a transfer student from Sweden who brings secrets and danger but as we know when you are Elite the rest of them have your back. This time is no different.

Win Sinclair goes to Sweden to do a semester abroad in the medical program. He is greeted by his buddy who was assigned to him. Not happy is an understatement for Lars. He wants peace and solitude but bringing a big dumb American is not going to give him that. When Win steps in to help Lars unexpectedly Lars decides that maybe the American can be useful. When one of Lars’ secrets almost costs him his life and Win saves him again all bets are off and everything changes BUT only until the semester is over and Win goes home.

But as the old saying goes The Road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Win and Lars will learn that the hard way when the agreement is broken and Lars comes to Westbrook and brings with him the danger he was trying to run from. It will take everything they have to beat the dangers that they can and cannot see.

The narration was really good. These were both new to me narrators and did a great job. I loved when narrating Win all of the inflection and peppiness that he used. You could feel his energy. All in all it was a really good narration and made for a great listen.

Love this series so hard 😍😍😍

I am so happy I got onto this series, this author has become one of my all-time favs! I have given every single one of these books 5 stars and WTF is no exception ❤️

I will start with the narration. One of the narrators I have listened to before and I enjoyed his performances while one is a newbie for me but I also enjoyed their rendition. I think I preferred the narrator who did Lars more honestly (I think thats the newbie for me haha) but thought both did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life and making me love them with every chapter. I appreciated some of the consistencies these narrators are attempting with the cameos from the other characters (esp bro from Jamie haha). I mean they arent exact but you can figure out who is who easily. The emotion in this one was higher than I think some of the other ones because of the subject matter. I mean this author seems to try and one-up herself with each story haha. I thought the anguish when Lars had to make a horrible choice and Win when he panicked with the current and past allergic reaction scenes. I felt the pain, the fear, the happiness, the butterflies and giddiness from these narrators. They did a great job and I didnt want this story to end 😊

Story hit me in the feels so hard! I felt so bad for Lars and just wanted to cuddle and help him. I was so happy when Win finally stopped denying his feelings and embraced his love and the scariness that comes with it. The way he comforted Lars was adorable and I love that trope/kink (praise kink, comfort, etc.). I appreciatiated the forced proximity and them not being able to stop themselves. I thought the storyline was cool, liked meeting new characters and some of the antics for hazing was hilarious and made me love this group even more. The same things I enjoyed in previous books was present here but I felt more found family and the protectiveness of this group for one another. Loved seeing the ladies embrace Lars with coffee, like they did Wes. Enjoyed seeing the developing bromance with Lars and another on the team who we get in a future story yayyy.

The steam in this one was fabulous, I loved the way things progressed once back in the states, and getting them both comfortable with each other again. The tension was off the charts and loved the jealously Lars got Win to snap out of his funk. I connection these two have is palpable and I felt like I was intruding on them haha🔥🔥🔥.

Oh and I am definitely intrigued by the rest of the Elite crew, if anymore are going to connect or if they will find their loved one outside the group. I cannot wait to listen to them in the future. Definitely a one-click author for me now with this series 😍

An incredibly sweet ride.

What I’m enjoying about this series is how each installment is so different from other installments, yet the same familiar cast is featured. Keeps it interesting and real, IMO.

Forced proximity.
Low-key enemies-to-lovers vibes.
Roommates to lovers.
Athletes - swim team.
Small town vibes.
New adult / college setting.
Lots of angst.
Male lead with a dark past / broken hero.
Action, drama, manipulation.

Overall:
A fun listen, as I’m learning to expect from this author / this world. Incredibly sweet love story to boot.
4 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Great! Excellent narrators, perfect performances and overall: high quality. 🦩

Good read!

WTF is book #4 in the Westbrook Elite series. It’s a MM, sports romance.

Win and Lars book was just as interesting as the other books. They were such a good couple, and complimented each other well. They brought out the best in each other. I still enjoyed the found family bond in the group and I’m loving as it gets bigger.

Evan Henderson and Michael Norman Johnson both a did a nice job portraying these characters.

Win and Lars

Win and Lars.

Narrators did a really good job giving these two characters a voice that pulls you into their story.
This starts with how these two met when Win went to Sweden to study abroad and ends up Lars roommate. There is a strong attraction but Win is a bi playboy afraid to do commitment. When Win comes back due to family emergency Lars decides to follow trying to escape a crazy abusive ex and to be around the only person he feels safe. This is part of a series but can be read/listened to as a standalone as this is the second book I have listened to from the series. I do recommend though to at least read/listen to Wish only because it has to do with Win's family. This is a bit of an emotional story especially when Lars gives a descripted detail to what he lived through when he was with his ex. Love how possesive, dominant and super protective Win is. Also love the characters that are part of the Elite swim team and how much of a family and team they are look forward to reading/listening to more and going back to read/listen to the previous stories.

Win and Lars’ story

This is the first series I've read/listened to by Cambria Hebert. I am loving this world she has created. Seeing characters from book to book helps us to remain invested, but this can be read as a standalone. Winston and Lars’ story started in Sweden. There were times that I laughed out loud. I liked these guys immediately. Lar's experiences broke my heart. There was a point that I wasn’t sure I could continue. I heart was pounding! I was sitting on the edge of my seat all the way to the HEA. I look forward to the next book.

Evan Henderson and Michael Norman Johnson are excellent narrators! They were perfect for the characters in this book. My favorite so far this series. They had this audiobook rolling like a movie in my head.

Roommates to lovers

I'm so glad we got Win’s story! We knew from previous books that he did a semester abroad in Sweden and that there was something suspicious between him and his roommate, Lars. Then Lars transfers to Westbrook to swim for Elite. Win doesn’t do commitment; however, there is just something about Lars that connects them. When an ex comes and demands Lars to return to Sweden, threatening someone he loves, Lars will do anything to keep him safe. But not if Win has anything to say about it.

More Elite Greatness! Awesome Story & Narration🎧

I am loving Cambria Hebert’s “Westbrook Elite” series, the characters and storylines are fantastic. Each book in the series features a member of the Elite swim team and stands on its own, but characters crossover into each other’s books and knowing their back story is not only beneficial, but seeing them again is like seeing old friends. That said, everything you need to know is in the details so you will never feel lost or if something is missing. This fourth book is Win and Lars’ story and I knew I was going to love it as soon as Winston landed in Sweden, went looking for his ride, and found Lars, not holding up a sign with his name on it. Win is an exchange student studying abroad for the semester, Lars, a student on the swim team whose coach told him he was getting a roommate for the semester. Lars did not want to share a room, had requested one to not have a roommate, so he was not happy about it. But Win, being who he is, won Lars over, so he was there to stay. I enjoyed how their story was told, with reflections of his time in Sweden and the present day with Lars transferring to Westbrook and joining the Elite. We get some more of Wes and Max, Win’s brothers, too. There is never a dull moment in this book and the story is captivating from start to end. The writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. It was great to see the camaraderie amongst the Elite team members again and how they have each other’s backs. Win and Lars’ story was not always an easy one, both had their own inner demons and Lars’ past coming back to haunt and hurt him, but love prevails in the end. This wonderful romance novel has it all, drama, angst, some Elite humor, some thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions and some hot loving. Cambria Hebert, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Evan Henderson and Michael Norman Johnson did a fantastic job bringing these characters and story to life. Their character voices were fitting and so was their portrayal of them, giving each their own voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, humanizing them, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance enhanced the already amazing story to another level. Thank you for this fabulous listen.
