THE STORY

As the tyranids of Hive Fleet Leviathan sweep through the sector consuming everything in their path, wayward Prince Yriel of Iyanden discovers that the farseers have inadvertently brought a greater threat to bear – a fragment of Hive Fleet Kraken, hurled into the warp to save the craftworld, has returned. The tyranid fleets cannot be allowed to combine, or their genetic legacies will merge into something even more terrible. Alongside allied forces from Craftworld Biel-Tan and even the dark eldar of Commorragh, Yriel has no choice but to fight on to the bitter end…

Aeldari at War

If you want to read about Craftworld Aeldari and how they wage war, or specifically about Iyanden or Biel-Tan, then this is the book for you. Still, I found the book to be bogged down by the amount of warfare and the 7 POVs to where I feel like most of the characters didn’t get the proper time in the spotlight, including Prince Yriel. This book has some great character moments, especially near the end, but you need to get through a lot of other stuff to get there. It probably doesn’t help that the antagonist is basically not a character, although this book does do a great job of illustrating the unique challenge the Tyranids, and their Shadow on the Warp, poses to the Aeldari. Although its story leaves something to be desired, it’s still a worthwhile read for Aeldari lore enjoyers

A Respectful look at Eldar Culture

I agree with the sentiment that you need to know some of Eldar Culture going in to this book, but that being said, even with that I did not previously know the context was sufficient that I was able to comprehend what was going on. And what was going on was nothing short of epic, this really is the Eldar book if you're looking for a deepened understanding of their culture and a close examination of their individual thinking. It does paint with broad strokes, so there may be some parts that are more enjoyable than others for the listener, but there is certainly something(s) here for everyone who is willing to give Aeldari a chance. Also, Taec MVP ;)

it's good to see my favorite space elves get a good book for once, if only the eldar could get books this great more often.
