Publisher's Summary

Recently widowed, Rivkah refuses to submit to the Torah law compelling her to marry her husband's brother and instead flees Kedesh, hoping to use her talents as a scribe to support herself. Without the protections of her father, Kedesh's head priest, and the safety of the city of refuge, Rivkah soon discovers that the cost of recklessness is her own freedom.

Malakhi has secretly loved Rivkah for years, but he never imagined his older brother's death would mean wedding her himself. After her disappearance, he throws himself into the ongoing fight against the Canaanites instead of dwelling on all he has lost. But with impending war looming over Israel, Rivkah's father comes to Malakhi with an impossible request.

As the enemies that Rivkah and Malakhi face from without and within Israel grow more threatening each day, is it too late for the restoration their wounded souls seek?

Favorite in the series...

This is my favorite book in the series. Cossette is one of my favorite Christian fiction authors and she did a masterful job with this novel. I appreciate the character growth for Rivkah and Malakhi and can relate to many aspects in the story. Rachel Botchen was decent as the narrator, she just isn’t my favorite. My complaint with her is inconsistency with the pronunciation of names from each novel.

Heart Melting, Page Turner

I am an avid reader of Connilyn's books and she never disappoints. I got goosebumps with the few mentions of Shira I love the way all the books intertwine. i especially loved that she brought the Ethiopian family back. I was on the edge of my seat. None of her books are predictable, there were many twists I didn't see coming. Character development is on point. i hate when they end. Can't wait for the next one!

Excellent❣️

This book along with the other books in this series are excellent. I like the way the characters lives continue through each book in the series. The books are interesting and yet the reader can learn so much about the culture and the history of this period. It shows us what life was like back then. Some of the characters names were so similar, it made it difficult at times to figure out who was doing what or who was saying what. I would just rewind and figure it out. I enjoyed the narrator very much. It was a wonderful story of forgiveness and it kept me involved in the story and characters. I was disappointed that I had finished the book because it was so good. 🙂

Voice of male characters lost in female narrator

I love C. Cossette 's books. I could list complements indefinitely. It's the 4 stars on performances I must mention. Rachel's skill at speaking the male voices is weak.

Until the Mountains Fall

Such an excellent series. Beautiful story of love, family, forgiveness and grace. I’m enjoying how connected these books are and how insightful they are to this time in Biblical history. It has been so interesting to learn about these refuge cities and the customs during this time. The entire series has been so descriptive, I can also see the story unfold in my mind’s eye. Outstanding narrator. Already purchased the next in the series.

Difficult to follow in some places

I really liked the story but in some places the narrator was not able to transition from one character to the other in voice. They children's voices were done well but the adults there was no distinction between male and female. I would recommend this story to someone else but not someone who had not listened to audible before because their First experience would not be good.

Narration was elementary

I forgot after hearing the first book how poor the narration was. overly monologued and not as professional as other authors have. sounds like the author needed a friend to do the audible version. I will do a better job of reviewing the sample audible before I purchase.

Mini Series

Another great book. I hope the series can be made into a miniseries like Ref Tent. Absolutely wonderful.

Fascinating historical setting but..

I felt that the characters lacked some of the depth of Cossette's previous stories. The male side of the story was unconvincing. It felt more like what a woman would wish a man to think, not how he really would. The setting and historical details were, as usual, well researched and realistic. The world the characters lived in was vivid and interesting. Whilst it is not possible to exactly re-create history, this setting was plausible and felt real.
