Publisher's summary

Why are symptoms of panic attacks, anxieties, PTSD, and depression so tightly bound to trauma? Why does the traumatic memory feel so real, like it just happened? How do you regain control of your life and release the pain to feel symptom-free? Are you tired of being a slave to your emotions and triggered?

Within this book, you will discover hope in regaining control of your emotions so that memories only serve as reflections of the past and no longer cause you pain. Discover how to ease yourself out of depression and release anxieties by rewiring your high-alert trauma brain. Brain chemistry changes from high cortisol levels, and science shows are directly connected to symptoms. By rewiring your brain, you bring yourself out from being associated with the memory and into the present moment, the now. You will be able to take your view out from the rear-view mirror behind you and onto the road ahead. You deserve better.

Julian is a survivor of child sexual abuse and adult domestic violence and was diagnosed with complex PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Living in fear and a slave to her symptoms robbed her of being truly happy. She found NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) therapy that dramatically changed her outlook on life. This type of therapy assisted in releasing the painful memories by changing the emotional aspects of the memories from associated (feeling as if just happened) to dissociated (like watching a movie). By cognitive restructuring and changing the scene it changed the feeling response to the memory. It overcame her 40-plus years of trauma symptoms and having a deep desire to assist others led to becoming a certified NLP Practitioner. No one should have to suffer when there’s hope.

Not all people will respond to the techniques shared in this book, just as not all types of therapies are 100 percent effective.

A truly helpful explanation of trauma and how to heal

I’ve visited counselors my whole life and found it difficult to find one that really gets what I went through. The author nailed it. I thought I was the only one that felt the way I did. I tried the approach and it helped me process the grief and get to a place of acceptance. Thank you!

Informative and Easy to Follow!

The book “Understanding Childhood Trauma & How to Let Go” gives insight into understanding childhood trauma, traumatic memory feels so natural, and one can be a slave to this. Still, the book provides hope on regaining control of emotions such that its memory will only be like a reflection and not the real thing so that its pain is eased. Living in fear has robbed many people who suffered abuse to be a slave to symptoms, but the audiobook gives a helpful guide for having a happy life.

Amazing listen

This book was so powerful for me and totally spoke to me. Julian has hit the nail on the head with this. It was so true about being ashamed and humiliated. As a child how do we get over that? It scars out forever. The tips and tools she supplies are fantastic and very helpful and yet realistic to do. this was a must-read for everyone as everyone has something. Thank you so much for the read. I think this is now my soul sister.

Healing and Letting Go

One of my favorite saying is “If you never heal from what hurt you, you'll bleed on people who didn't cut you.” This book is a good guide for people to understanding what trauma is, how the aftermath of trauma manifest, and how to heal and recover from it. The book contains multiple tools to take you through the steps of the healing process and lighten up the burden load on your shoulder.

Brilliant Insight Into Trauma

This book is deep and very insightful research on childhood trauma. The author has an excellent grasp of the psychological ramifications of traumatic events from our childhood. Julian Demarco reveals with great clarity the nature of post-traumatic stress disorder, child abuse, disassociation, and other trauma-related symptoms. But she doesn't stop there. Once she defines the problem, the author offers practical techniques for healing through Neuro-linguistic Programming as well as other alternative approaches. The most important lesson of this book is the appeal for a conscious act of letting go of the pain.
Brilliant work by this author! I'll be on the lookout for her next book.
The narrator is also excellent. She communicates this profound information with compassion and a deep understanding of the needs of this author's audience.

Brutally honest and compassionate at the same time

Wow - what a powerful book. Letting go of childhood trauma is a life-long struggle for some. My load def got a little lighter in this department after listening to this book. It's loving, but honest. And it's got real strategies to move on - not just philosophy. It's really exciting actually. Great narrator too. Recommend!!

Get rid of the trauma residue ...

listening to this constructive book will get you back to the life you've been missing ... PTSD, anxiety, depression, childhood traumas... can ruin the long life and leave chronic effects in us, treating this to get rid of the residue can be a hard and long healing process, it could also need intensive therapy and sessions, but this book is a really informative and constructive one that can open a wide door to healing. highly recommended!!

Healing, Powerful

Bought this as I had been working with my therapist around childhood issues surrounding shame, and self rejection. I saw this and thought it could potentially be good supplementary material for my therapy process, which it was. Understanding Childhood Trauma & How to Let Go speaks to our wounded inner kid, and helps us realize our own innate self worth. By breaking down the psychology of early trauma, this book helps us understand how to have compassion for ourselves in our memory, and let go of these events that affect us in adulthood.

Would recommend for anyone trying to release early childhood trauma or emotional pain. Very powerful and healing work.

Reading was horrible

As someone who comes to this app because I have a hard time in ready the person who read this was just horrible. They put emphasis in weird places were fairly monotone and just could cause you to go right to sleep. Not a good listen @ all
