So raw and real

I really love how Nyssa writes love stories. There’s always a fabulous amount of suspense that keeps you guessing paired with incredible deep and unconditional love. Colt and Indie are childhood sweethearts that go through unthinkable struggles and are on the verge of divorce. Through their intense love, lots of work, and endless support, these two end up finding each other again and working through all of the drama. JF Harding and Maxine Mitchell were phenomenal in this duet audio. They work so well together in portraying two people so heavily in love that they would do anything to keep each other. This book hit home for me in so many ways, and I absolutely loved it!

A heartfelt and touching story

We are back in Amber Ridge and this time the story belongs to Colt and Indie Reed.
Colt has left the Marines when he realizes the effects his absence has had on his marriage to Indie. A woman that has struggled with infertility, multiple of unsuccessful IVF treatments and a mother in law that seems to be determined to ruin Indie’s life. All while Colt was deployed.
A year ago all this was too much to handle and Indie thought the best solution was a divorce. Papers that Colt never signed and now that he’s no longer a Marine, he’s determined to win his wife back.
But the road to happiness is filled with betrayal, a deadbeat father, suspense and sorrow.
The story is heartfelt. Dealing and struggling with infertility is real. It affects the individual’s entire life, physically, mentally and emotionally. Harder with little support.
It’s also a story that reminds us that the experiences of a child will affect that individual as an adult.
Once again, the author delivers a story with an engaging plot, main characters that are perfect in their imperfection, and a cast of secondary characters that we have come to love.
Great performance by Maxine Mitchell and JF Harding.
Whether as a book or an audiobook, the author delivers another winner in the series.

INTERCONNECTED series STANDALONE (the rest of the series doesn't need to be read for the plot to make sense but are well worth the read).


This story is a bit different than Nyssa Kathryn's other stories for romance suspense. There's no plot twist and no real mystery. The villain and protector plot is pretty obvious, and the heroine is (as always) self-sufficient, fights for herself and never gives up emotionally, mentally or physically. She's strong every step of the way.

This is by far one of the best, most heart wrenching (and warming) and well done second chance romances I've read thus far. The way the hero grovels and fights for our heroine is satisfying and swoon worthy. There aren't misunderstandings for the sake of misunderstanding due to poor communication. The conflict is extremely real and relatable and understandable for both parties. You'll never feel frustrated with the characters' past choices. AND there is no annoying slow burn.

The couple is real in their interpersonal and intrapersonal conflict. They heal together and individually in the most heart wrenching way; Nyssa Kathryn makes us feel the turmoil, pain of loss, helplessness, desperation and longing the characters experience. I legit was tearing up and trying not to cry within minutes of starting the story because I felt both characters pain so much.

Nyssa picked AMAZING narrators for this one. The male narrator fit the expectation I had of what the hero would sound like when excerpts were released (join her mailing list if you haven't already!). Both male and female narrators did a wonderful job conveying emotion, which made this a very satisfying, engaging and entertaining listen.

Nyssa Kathryn does it again and show why she's one of my favorite small town, military, romance suspense author by far.

Colt & Infie are my favorite!

This is probably one of the most emotional second chance romances I have ever listened to. Sweetening the listening pleasure was narrators Maxine Mitchell and J.F. Harding. These two definitely aided in my love of the story. Both have honed their craft and I always know I will have no problems listening to them. It was refreshing to hear Maxine in different setting than what I have been listening to her in. And J.F., it really doesn't matter what he is narrating, I am going to enjoy it but I feel like he excels at these military characters. Performed in duet style I wasn't sure how they would sound together though I should have known they would sound amazing. Both know how to make the listener feel the emotions of the character and when JF does that whisper thought, talk thing he does...I absolutely love it!

I knew Colt and Indie were going to be emotional just from the little glimpse I got of them in Untouched. We learned that they are separated and Indie has been attempting to get a divorce from Colt all while he was refusing to sign because he was coming home to win her back.

My heart broke so many times for Indie during this story because she really does still love Colt and clearly that man is head over heels for her. He is willing to take things as long as the end result is her back in his arms. When trouble shows up Indie is left with no choice but to let Colt stay at what was once their home. The pull to each other is so strong even being in the same house doesn't work, Indie tells Colt three words erasing the distance of the last year, "I need you." As they try to build a new life together there are people constantly getting in the way.

Nyssa Kathryn knows how to write a second chance couple. The love that these two have for each other is so strong you can feel it with her words. No matter how many obstacles they come across Colt is not letting Indie go! He even stands up to his mother, who I really despised through the majority of the book but I guess I started to warm up to her by the end. I am very much looking forward to Noah's story next.

Small-town Spicy Suspense Perfection

Nobody does small-town, spice and suspense like Nyssa Kathryn does.

Unbroken is the fourth installment of the interconnected standalone Amber Ridge Series. It follows married-but-separated couple Colt, a Marine, and Indie, a family photographer. The struggles they endure are so relatable and real, written in a way that your heart breaks for them. From family drama to deployment to infertility, Colt and Indie have been through a multitude of life struggles that would break most couples When he returns from his tour and reunites with Indie, their true feelings for each other are rekindled, their connection undeniable.

Nyssa pulled at every heartstring in Unbroken. She is a master at balancing the angsty and emotional scenes with the spicy. Most of all, I love the way the suspenseful elements simmer throughout the book, keeping the reader guessing at what's coming next.
Pair Nyssa's writing with narration from Maxine Mitchell and JF Harding, and you have and already beautifully written love story transformed into a tear-out-your-heart, edge-of-your-seat reading experience. There is a reason these two are among my favorite voice actors..they give their all and pour every emotion into their projects.

While set in a small town, this series has a large cast of characters. There's just enough mention of the former characters that fans of the series will love to see again, and enough of a teaser for the couple featured in the next book. Nyssa balances every element flawlessly.

Wonderful Story & Narration🎧Engrossing & Moving!

It is great to be back in “Amber Ridge”, one of my favorite places to visit and spend time in, for another amazing novel, a small town, second chance romantic suspense that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. Nyssa Kathryn created something very special when she created this world, a world with realistic and relatable characters, and a group of friends who are likeable and easy to root for. This fourth book in the series is Indie and Colt Reed’s story, and after meeting them in the prior book, I was looking forward to their story and learning more about them. I knew going in that this was going to be an emotional story, and Kathryn delivers that and so much more. Failed attempts at getting pregnant took a toll on their marriage and Indie’s mental health. Colt retired from the Marines because being away so much did not help matters, and he wanted to focus on fixing his marriage and getting his new business started. Second chances are not always easy, and to complicate matters is his mother and her treatment of Indie. It gets even more intense when his estranged father arrives in Amber Ridge and, wow, that man is ruthless. There are a lot of layers to this wonderfully written and plotted story, and it has the perfect balance of drama, angst, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a wonderful second chance romance. Nyssa Kathryn, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Maxine Mitchell and J.F. Harding deliver an exceptional performance, bringing these characters to life, humanizing them with their voices, emotions and personality. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Mitchell was a natural in Indie’s role, conveying her every emotion and having you feel each one, with J.F. Harding doing the same in Colt’s role, and was just as amazing. Both were fantastic at performing the roles of the side/secondary characters too. These superbly talented voice artists are entertaining storytellers whose captivating performances keep you hooked to the story.
