Publisher's summary

She’ll mend his broken heart. He’ll shatter anew to protect her.

Hannah Jacobs is intimately familiar with pain. Growing up in foster care, she experienced all of its varying shades, in ways that still impact her as an adult. But she makes a daily conscious effort to overcome her past, to bear the heartache of losing her only source of care and support, and to live her life with purpose.

Purpose like her new neighbor.

Hannah recognizes another broken soul when she sees one. Erik isn’t open to healing, but she’s never shied away from a challenge. Even if she did, something won’t let her stop chipping away at the man’s nearly impenetrable exterior.

Life as he knew it shattered for Erik Hunter in the space of a single phone call, leaving pieces so small and jagged, he fears they’ll never be put back together. He’s a different person now. Largely estranged from his family and doing dangerous work for the government, when he moves back to his hometown, he’s seeking peace and solitude.

He didn’t count on his neighbor. Her determination, her indomitable will, her beauty. She makes him want something he hasn’t had in years. More terrifyingly, she gives him something to lose.

Turns out that fear is well founded. When a faceless enemy emerges, Erik must risk everything to protect Hannah—or see his world shatter again.

This is the beginning of Erik and Hannah's story, book one in a three-part serial. That means happy-for-now endings until book three, when Erik and Hannah will get the happy ever after they deserve.

Suspenseful and So Good

5/5 ⭐

5/5 🎧

First off, Teddy Hamilton and Stella Bloom are freaking superstars at their craft. This duet narration was flawless and amazing in every way possible. I was so excited to see they had paired up for this audiobook and couldn't wait to start. Secondly, WOWSA I was not expecting that ending. My eyes literally bugged outta my head for a minute. And lastly, dang that was a fantastic start to this trilogy. It was funny, thrilling, dark and fascinating and had me hanging on every word.

I really love these two main characters. They're both beautifully flawed and broken people who have found love in an unexpected place. By the end I almost forgot they met on a street full of panties and then bashed heads over watering a garden. As this book finished up these two were 100% wrapped up in each other, although we'll see what the cliffhanger realization brings to their relationship.

The suspense aspect to this story was semi-unexpected for me, but I absolutely loved it. Lots of violence and bad situations and some blood and unaliving. Honestly she gets herself in trouble often even if practically none of it is her fault.

I'm so excited to dive into Erik's Redemption.

Loved this book!

Erik and Hannah are both deserving of each others love and acceptance and their chemistry is off the charts. Hannah is independent, witty and drove Erik up the walls with her nosiness and attempts to be neighborly. Erik just wanted to be left alone to suffer in his own head so when the two of them clash they’re not ready for each other. There is plenty of steam and romance. I also loved the interactions between Hannah and her friends. Overall I absolutely loved this book. I think it must be picked up in a second book as the ending leaves a question mark.

Holy gezzz Nyssa!! What did you do?

This is incredible! It is not the typical stories that you write but it was amazing to read!

Erik stopped living 8 years ago when devastation consumed him. He wanted to live in seclusion and just keep doing his job as a one-man team avoiding people in general. He couldn’t get close to anyone because if he did, his dark life would consume anyone in the way!
Hannah was used to doing things on her own and preferred it that way, well except for her 2 best friends!!
Erik and Hannah became neighbors when Erik moved into the house next door, which was a home he spent many of his younger years in. Erik loved the isolation the home provided until he realized someone had fixed up and moved into the house next door. Erik wanted nothing to do with the beautiful neighbor so he was his typical hard, angry man towards her just to keep her away from him, well up until trouble found her.
Erik and Hannah couldn’t fight the attraction they each had for one another but will that attraction get someone hurt?
I didn’t realize this is a trilogy but I am so excited to see how Erik and Hannah overcome what is bound to come out next!
Nyssa, please write faster!!!!

Erik & Hannah - Part 1

As I said in my review of the book, I really don't like same couple/multiple books series. However, the fact that Teddy Hamilton and Stella Bloom are the narrators help tremendously to make a really good storyline absolutely terrific. A different twist for Nyssa Kathryn, but not a bad one. There's a HUGE cliffhanger that leads into Part II so I'm definitely looking forward to reading and listening!

Incredible start for this new series.

Already addicted to the Beautiful Pieces series. I should have expected no less from a Nyssa Kathryn book. Incredible writing and Teddy Hamilton and Stella Bloom are great at narration.

I've been staying up way too late at night because I just have to know what happens next.

Off to start book 2 :-) Definitely recommend.

Absolutely loved everything about this book

This is my first book by Nyssa Kathryn but it will most definitely not be the last. I loved the narration choices for this audiobook. Teddy Hamilton is just perfect as always. It has been years since I have listened to Stella Bloom but I thought she did such a wonderful job as Hannah and the other female characters. I truly loved that this book was done in duet.

I seriously loved Hannah so much. She was cute and quirky at times. She had lived a hard life growing up but now she had two very close friends and a very hot neighbor to keep her occupied. Erik was definitely mysterious with his career, which was understandable. He had been pretty much closed off to the idea of any type of relationship after losing his wife a few years ago. But there was just something about Hannah that brought him back to life without him even realizing it was happening.

One thing that I enjoyed was that all the mystery wasn't just surrounding Erik's life/job. I kind of had an idea of what might have been going on with Hannah and her job but things did keep twisting and turning for me to keep me on my toes. Romantic suspense is one of my top favorite tropes and I thought this one was just perfect.

And that ending...I am still sitting here shocked at how this story ended. Now I shall "patiently" wait for Erik's Redemption so that I can have all of the answers that I am desperately needing right now.

I LOVED THIS!

Erik's Salvation is book #1 in the Beautiful Pieces series. This story has set the tone for a fantastic series that I can't wait to finish! Hannah is a struggling realtor with a fixer-upper home and a car on its last legs. Growing up in foster care, her support system consists of few close friends and a lonely older neighbor. Erik is a veteran with a dangerous past and very secretive career. When he is left his grandfather's home, he finds his new neighbor getting a little to close. Always the protector, Erik steps in to help Hannah and sparks fly between them. I loved the suspense, intrigue, crazy steamy scenes, and passion that brought the MCs together. Easily a binge-worthy listen. This story isn't exactly a stand-alone, which means it does have a happy ending, but is also a cliffhanger for the next book.

The narration was perfection. Stella Bloom and Teddy Hamilton are favorite narrators of mine. They both gave life to the MCs sucking me into the story like a movie. 5 star performance for them both.

Dark and Grumpy Meets Sunshine and Happiness

Hannah has had a difficult life, but she’s optimistic and focuses on the bright side. Erik has suffered some terrible losses and he holds on to his darkness. These two start as neighbours and antagonists, but the attraction is undeniable and Hannah brings light to Erik’s life. Unfortunately, Erik brings danger to Hannah… This story is the start of a trilogy which is no doubt packed with actions and secrets, based on the start of this book. My heart was pounding as one after another after another threats were unleashed and Erik saves the day. I loved all the secondary characters in this book as well, and I’m excited to read the rest of this trilogy - Erik and Hannah have quite the story to tell. Teddy Hamilton and Stella Bloom bring chemistry, life and wonderful narration to this story, and I’m so glad I listened.

Two broken souls finding healing

This was my first read by this author & there’s a whole new world that I feel the need to dive in to.

Hannah is the product of the foster care system & has struggled her entire life to form meaningful relationships. With the exception of one foster brother, Nico, she’s never had anyone who truly cared for her well being until she moved to the wonderful town of Redwood where she met her best friends & chosen family, Brigid & Henry. But as she soon finds out, not all are warm & welcoming…one tall, dark, & grumpy man in particular who happens to be her new neighbor.

Erik’s move into his late grandfathers old home was supposed to be his secluded sanctuary. He’s ex-military, but still does sanctioned classified jobs for the government. He’s seen things, he’s suffered loss, and he’s merely a shell of the man he used to be because of it. He’s a private man at all costs, so when his gorgeous neighbor trespasses to water his grandfather’s flowers, he goes out of his way to put his foot down.

Hannah has a glow about her that draws people in. Despite her horrific childhood, she’s made a way for herself & discovered her true joy in living. But that grumpy neighbor…he needs a dose of her sunshine, & she’s willing to spread it. Erik’s put off by her cheery demeanor, and though he’s drawn to her in so many ways, he’s resilient in keeping his distance. But when trouble finds their small town and begins to wreak havoc, he goes out of his way to ensure the safety of his gorgeous neighbor & those he loves.

This book does end on a cliffhanger, and it was one that had me jumping headfirst into the next book, Erik’s Redemption which releases January 5, 2024.
