Publisher's Summary

Deputy US Marshal Miro Jones finally has everything he ever wanted. He's head-over-heels in love and married to the man of his dreams, his partner Ian Doyle, he's doing well at work, and all his friends are in good places as well. Things are all tied up nicely...until they're not.

Change has never been easy for Miro, and when situations at work force the team he's come to depend on to break apart, and worst of all, his and Ian's individual strengths put them on two separate paths, he's pretty certain everything just went up in smoke.

But before he can even worry about the future, his past comes for a visit, shaking his world up even more. It's hard to tell what road he should truly be on, but as he learns some paths are forged and others are discovered, it might be that where he's going is the right course after all. If he can navigate all the twists and turns, he and Ian might just get their happily ever after.

Perfect Mary Calmes and Tristan James!

I have loved this series from the beginning and this 4th book is perfect. Tristan James' voice IS Miro Jones! I love the way that Mary Calmes' books mention the day to day things so you feel like you really know your character. I love the fact the books are long, not just 2 or 3 hours. Some books fit the shorter length (that works for some books) but not this series.
SPOILER ALRET:
I really want to know: 1.) How the 16 year old died? 2.) What happened to the 2 new Marshals that just transferred in to Chicago? 3.) Does Ned and his mother get what they deserve? 4.) What happens to Miro and Ian in the future (PLEASE-no getting old and passing!) If I don't find out that is ok, they will forever stay at this age in my mind. 5.) Do they like their jobs now? 6.) What is in the safe? 7.) I have loved Miro and Ian also Jory and Sam, can I have a new series?
Thank you Ms. Calmes and Ms. James for the hours of enjoyment I have gotten from this series.

Seems like mostly flashbacks

This was extremely short despite being almost 9hrs long. There's a lot of flashbacks in it and the actual story is more like a novella. Great story, but just when it feels like its actually just starting it ends. So 4/5 for this one unfortunately.

I'm torn between recommending this book and not recommending this book. I hate having an incomplete series, so I'd recommend it just based on that, and there's a lot of important details in this book that (if there's another) you'll miss out on if you don't get this one. But is it really worth it? Well, honestly, if Mary Calmes doesn't publish another in the series, then I'd say no and leave book three as the ending.

I'd give this one 10 stars if I could!

I have to say I was worried when I read the synopsis for this one. Miro has been through SO much, I just wanted to him to have five solid minutes of happiness and peace. The way things roll out in the story though, I shouldn't have been worried. It's an action packed, non stop roller coaster that twists and turns and hurls you sideways then drops you on your ass. But it's so damn good!!! The book literally hits the ground running and it doesn't stop until the very end. I was beyond engrossed with this story, I was listening in the car via my Zune which I don't normally do.

After listening to the entire book, the path Calmes put these characters on made perfect sense. I mean, seriously, if you know Ian and Miro you know that life is never going to be home by five, dinner at the table with an aged red wine, feeding each other strawberries and making love by candlelight. With these two it's more like spaghetti that doesn't drip it's so thick at damn near midnight after dropping a sociopath of at the nuthouse. Followed up with hot, rough, sweaty sex in the pantry before falling into bed exhausted and sticky then waking up with thoughts of beating the shit out of the ringing cell phone with a very big gun.

Tristan James, goddamn I love this man. There is nothing he can't do with his voice. What I love is that each and every book in this story flows seemlesly with each and every character clearly conveyed with the same tones, nuances and vocal ticks from one book to the next. I could probably spend a weekend listening to this series back to back and be perfectly content.

If you like stories with two strong willed gentleman that can't get enough of each other and like to chase crazy people into burning buildings or run toward a spray of bullets instead of away from them. You'll love this one! You have to start with book 1 though, they must be read or listened to in order.

A rating...

My Review:
Overall: 4.75
Performance: 5.0
Story: 4.5

I've made it no secret from book #1 that I've loved this series. I *think* this is the final book in the series (although I'm seriously hoping for a spinoff series). As such, it ended on a seriously high note, too. This series from book one and throughout has just been phenomenal. And I've read it going back and forth between the audiobook and prints books (that are ALL on my keeper/reread shelf because I love this series). The books are so riveting, I almost always reach a point in the audio where I need to devour the story faster and switch to the print book, but the audiobooks (with Tristan James' narration) are just so perfect, I don't want to stop listening to them either. So, I end up going back and forth.

This is a series that follows one couple...Miro and Ian, who are both US Marshals. As such, it's a series that you need to read from the very beginning. These are not standalone reads. But with that being said, this is easily one of my top ten series that I've EVER read, so I HIGHLY recommend you read it ASAP!!

This book ended the series beautifully. It tied up story lines that have flowed through out the entire four book series and gave a beautiful glimpse into how perfect every aspect of Miro and Ian's lives will continue to work and flow together.

I loved it so, so much. LOVED IT!

Disappointed

I loved the first three books, but the last book in this series was a disappointment. There was very little story. What wasn’t Miro’s introspection about himself and the things around him was just tying up loose ends and explaining changes.

Twists and Turns and Blown Away

I have laughed, loved and been brought to tears throughout many of Mary Calmes works, however I was truly shocked by the way this book did those things to me.

And Tristan James captures the voices of her characters in such a way that I truly feel like I know these people.

Just off the mark for me but still a great book

This one is kind of hard for me to write as whenever anyone asks for a recommendation, in pretty much all situations on I'll give is the Marshalls series. I love reading it and listening to it. Miro and Ian are two of my favourite characters along with the family that they have built around them.
However, for me this book just didn't quite hit the spot that I have experienced in the previous three. In the beginning we have several flashback scenes which, while helping to build a story, for me got a little confusing.
It is great reading how Miro and Ian are moving forward together after the changes and events that they've both gone through so far in their story. We still hear from all of Miro's "family", the girls - Aruna, Min, Janet and Katherine - as well as the guys from the Marshall's office. The support and friendship that they are surrounded by is fantastic and written in such ways that the interactions are so real! Conversations that you could imagine having with your friends, making jokes, doing whatever you can for them in times of need.
Miro and Ian both show off their best selves in their jobs doing what they were born to do, made even better with Cage showing such trust in what they're capable of. Cage is such a man of mystery, finding out little bits now and then and Miro's complete trust in the man makes him an integral part of their story.
In this story we have major lows along with highs but Mary writes everything so well. Drawn into the story, wanting to know what's coming up, trying to anticipate and it always being better than what I can imagine.
Personally the end fell a little flat for me and I'm hoping for a book 5 to follow the men on their next steps of their journey both separately and together, especially with how much has gone on in this book!
I do recommend this book, there are only a couple of parts that didn't work for me but overall this is yet another great outing for the Marshalls. I would definitely say you need to have read the previous books because of certain plot continuations.
Narration - Tristan James has done fantastic work across the whole of the Marshall series. The voice he gives to Miro feels true and everything comes across full of thought and emotion, especially when it's about Ian. We are given different voices for different characters and a lot of highly charged scenes, full of anger, love, shock and understanding. The part that takes away a star is his Tristan's portrayal of Ian. Normally strong, stoic and gruff, his accent seems to go through changes throughout the book, making his voice stand apart from what we're used to. It doesn't detract enjoyment from the rest of Tristan's narration but as a big fan of the series, it's just something that stood out for me.

Love the book, hate that it's the ending.

So many changes in this book for Miro and Ian. I loved every moment of this book. I felt like the author wrapped things up in a way that the reader can see that there is only a happy ever after in store for them. There were so many cameos and mentions of characters from the author's other books, and references to other authors series. I am glad that the author is creating other books in the Marshalls series because you don't just fall in love with the main characters but so many of the secondary ones as well. I will miss hearing Miro's pov because he is such a cool character. He's mellow but fun and sweet. I love Ian's boldness, and his craving to submit to Miro from time to time. He is the perfect protector. The two make a great pair. I almost feel like crying though I'm sure they will be secondary characters in the next books. A wonderful series that I will probably reread and relisten to again and again.

One of my Favorite Series

This 4th book in the Marshals is an absolute brilliant and delightful ending to this series or at least to Miro and Ian's story, I am a huge fan of Mary Calmes starting with her Matter of Time series so when Marshals came out I was excited and Tristan James does an incredible job giving these characters a voice. I will be re-listening to all 4 of these books again and again I highly recommend them.

Unbelievable ending to an amazing story!!!!!

This is the fourth book in this series and it does not disappoint. I couldn’t have asked for a better HEA for these two men. Moro and Ian are sexy, funny, and full of surprises. Buy this audio - you won’t regret it! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A good finale to the series....

Tristan's performance gets 4 stars, as does this final story but 5 stars for the series as a whole. All the loose ends seemed to come together, and thank heaven Dr Hartley finally met his maker...he really gave me the willies 😨. Great ending to a really good series.

An ok latest instalment to a series.

I've started this series so I keep buying the books, but I honestly cannot remember much about this book, it was ok but it has taken me ages to finish it as I found it a bit boring.
