It’s really hard to pretend like life is normal when you’re staring a monster in the eyes, though he’s both tempting and irritating in his human form. I put my days as a hunter behind me, unable to cope with the death and pain anymore, to become an upstanding citizen and for what? To assist Lake, a man who claims he’s not a monster but keeps talking about me like I’m edible and–even worse–wants to woo me? The human is exquisite. The first moment he told me he was going to hunt me down, I felt my heart burst. He’s beautiful, sassy, angry, and going to be mine (even if he thinks he can refuse my charms). But what Declan doesn’t know about me is that there’s a reason I’m hiding as a human among monster hunters. And while he definitely doesn’t know why, he’s willing to work with me because the people around us strangely want Declan and me dead at the end of this (I mean, who would want to kill us? We’re amazing).

But honestly…what’s more fun than dragging a hunter off to the dark side?

Warning: This is a chaotic monster and a chaotic human. Stuff happens. People die (but they were bad, so it doesn’t matter, right?) and there’s plenty of humor alongside a budding romance.

love michael Ferraiuolo, and Alice Winters is honestly one of, if not my fav! I cant wait for the next one.....is it here yet??.........what about now???

I have been struggling to find a good book to listen to and I got so excited when I saw Alice Winters had a new audible! and with Michael Ferraiuolo who is one of the three best narrators. This was great and unique and so flipping hilarious!

Enjoyed It a Lot

This book was so much fun to listen to. The story has a Hunter who is brave and clever, Monster who is funny and little bit scary at times, romance, plus lots of dangerous adventures, twists and interesting supporting cast of characters. Narrator did a great job with story and the voices, his work made this a perfect listening experience. Can't wait for the next book.

So fun!

This book was right up my alley! A little sexy and very sweet. The romance builds with funny bits in between. A believable world where inter species love can thrive. :)

I love it

I love the other books that she's written. I love the witty humor and snarky attitudes. I really do love the narrator who does the books. I need more.

Great fun

Very enjoyable book with fun characters. Sir Reginald FTW! There are several memorable scenes that will definitely stay with me lol. I read the ebook first, but it's one of those books that is even better in audio.

Michael Ferraiuolo uses the same voice for Lake as he does for Leland in the Hitman's guide and for other characters in various books as well. Could try to mix it up on occassion.

Fun

This was fun and the usual terrific narration by Micheal only enhances this story

Unique and fantastic!

Winters has created a modern day world with unique creatures terrorizing humans. The plot is vey interesting, the story moves at a good pace, and characters are well thought out. Lake is a beautiful, monster hiding out in plain sight. His antics are funny and ridiculous at times, but we get a feel for the heart of gold buried waaaay under the exterior. Declan just wants to be normal. They both realize that normal isn’t for them. The story kept me guessing, had me eagerly waiting for what was next, and ultimately left me feeling happy with the conclusion. There are enough questions about what the future holds to begin a great series, but it wrapped up with a happy for now feeling. Excellent. If you’ve read Winters other series, this has the same fun feel.

Good book but voice actor better

The book was good but the voice actor really made the story come to life and very entertaining. Gave each character their own personality.
