Reads like an action movie screenplay.
I'm a little sad I bought this one. It is technically science fiction but the science and cultural aspects are only lightly touched on. It deals with conditioning of soldiers but really misses on it's attempt for greater meaning. The ending is also kind of a non-ending. No greater resolution or profound statement. The whole thing seems a little lacking and repetitive. Bacigalupi's quintessential and profound novel remains Wind up Girl. Everything he has written since seems to be backwash. I will continue to buy his novels though. Another diamond may yet appear.

great original thoughtful science fiction
Paolo Bacigalupi continues his drowned cities universe in this book. Readers should probably read drowned cities before listening to this book. Clearly narrated with an interesting original story and characters this book was a delight.

I cannot get enough of this author
Tool of War follows on the heels of so many other amazing books by Paulo. This novel starts a bit slowly... but it soon builds to draw the reader in. There is a bit of Tool in every one of us... I can't be the only reader recognizing the "dog" hidden beneath my own human skin.

Another great read by Paolo Bacigalupi!
Paolo Bacigalupi has done it again with this book! Tool is a great character and several characters from his previous books made appearances. The story was compelling, I finished it sooner than I wanted to. The end was satisfying and left room for further adventure for Tool and company. The narrator did an excellent job with many characters, I thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
