How much trouble can Elizabeth get into on a walk in the woods? Despite the fear of injury, Elizabeth Bennet risks all to save a stranger, unaware that the threat to her person will be overshadowed by the threat to her future. Faced with doing what is right or what he would prefer, Mr. Darcy proves he is a gentleman by choosing the path of right, but will that choice prove disastrous?

Except for the premise, and the beginning of the story, I had nearly forgotten all the details of the rest of the book. All the angst and all the drama and excitement was new to me again. I love this story. This writing team is superb.
Circumstances following Elizabeth’s fall down a ravine when she sacrificed herself to save the stranger approaching the bridge where she spied a gunman aiming at the coach, led to a forced marriage between Darcy (the intended victim) and Elizabeth the hapless heroine pushed down by the killer and severely injured. No one knew who she was and Darcy couldn’t abandon her when the inn he took her to had no one to help her.
Even though she saved him, and ultimately saved Georgiana’s life, Darcy was appalled by her low connections and even with her as he repeatedly made the wrong conclusion about her intelligence and abilities. He was a really big idiot for the longest time. And understandingly drove a huge wedge between them. He was agonizingly slow to recognize her wonderful qualities, which was really fun to watch. There’s a lot of getting into his head in this story, actually both of our dear couple’s heads.
Well, come together they do and it was worth the wait. It seemed that their biggest challenge was their own misunderstandings , but they didn’t know Wickham was planning a really heinous act to punish Darcy and Elizabeth, ultimately draining more money from Darcy’s wealth. And Lydia was Lydia at her best worst.
There’s so much more to the story, this is going to be a favorite re-listen. Highly recommended.
Original and excellently crafted
