Sad and disappointed

I usually like Frantz’s books, light hearted and clean but this one was disappointing. The storyline was single dimensional, the characters were shallow and overly dramatic imo. Everything was sad and foreboding. No humor, no fun, nothing good happened to the characters. I kept waiting to find depth, to see the reason the main characters were attracted each other but found no chemistry there. Sorry but I found it to be sad and it felt never ending in misery. I did not enjoy it.

Narrator detracts from a good story

Although this was a good story, the odd cadence and intonation this narrator always uses made it a bit wearisome. She does not give the very dramatic parts the intensity they deserve, and she needs a lot of work on accents. Some character's who should have had an accent didn't, and those who did sounded like someone trying to do an accent but not mastering it.

I liked the story enough to persist to the end, but oh how I wished for a better narrator!

One of her best

I enjoyed this book set in Jamestown during the Tobacco Brides period. Great characters and exciting plot, a lot of interesting historical details, and a sweet love story make it easy to recommend to Christian historical fiction readers. Really, all of Laura Frantz books are very good. You can’t go wrong with any of them.

Another Excellent Book 📖 by Laura Frantz

I have enjoyed every book 📚written by Laura Frantz. I believe she is my favorite author. Tidewater Bride is another excellent book that Laura Frantz has written. I thoroughly enjoy how her books give you an understanding of how it was like to live during the books time period, location and culture. I especially like the way Laura Frantz describes the emotions and relationship between the main characters. Of course, the Bible verses that are part of the story, speak to my heart. I eagerly look forward to Laura Frantz next book.

Loved it!!! The narrator was wonderful. I have read all of Laura Frantz's books, and like all the others this dud not disappoint.

Always a great read

I enjoyed listening to this story. Mrs. Frantz never disappoint. It was like watching a good tv show. The narrator did a good job.

Romance novel

I expected a book about the history of the Virginia Colony. This is basically romance novel with a small smattering of history thrown in. A waste of time. Good if you’re a fan of bodice rippers, I suppose.
