Publisher's Summary

When powers clash.

In the mafia world, women don’t reign.

I’m the exception of that rule.

I didn’t choose this life. It chose me.

I have a legacy to protect, a power to snatch, and no one will stop me.

If an arranged marriage is what it’ll take to lead, then so be it.

What I don’t count on is that my chosen husband happens to be a ghost from my past.

Kyle Hunter.

He was once my guard, my protector. Now, he’s after my kingdom.

The road to the throne is paved with thorns, blood, and casualties.

To win, I’ll risk it all.

My heart included.

Throne of Power is the first part of a duet and is not a stand-alone.

TEN STARS.. BUT I NEEEEEEEEEEED BOOK 2 STAT

Oh I knew before starting this book it was probably going to be a truly addictive Duet (and I don’t usually start them till both books are out) but I just couldn’t help myself, it was teasing me with its possibilities, so I dived right in and never looked back. And wow.. wow.. wow, Rina Kent has gone ALL OUT with this unstoppable story. Just look.. the Bratva, the Irish and the Italian Mafia all vying, spying and trying to become the most powerful.. ✔️ A strong driven Mafia Princess trying to stay alive.. and gloriously powerful.. ✔️ A sexy British Assassin anti-hero returning to the Bratva fold after suspiciously disappearing for seven years.. ✔️ A full cast of secondary characters with their family dynamics, status, customs and underhanded bloody games.. ✔️ An arranged marriage each with their secrets and their reasons for saying “I do”.. ✔️ An unholy marriage between enemies, powerful chemistry that built and built, unwanted attraction, walls breaking, boundaries crossed, lust, dirty talk, toys, games, rough sex, danger, bullets, bloodshed, trust/no trust, players and pawns, dangerous secrets unfolding and flags raised prematurely.. ✔️ So, will it be love.. will it be a battle.. or will it be all out war? WORTH A CREDIT? Oh yes, absolutely riveting action-packed edge-to-edge drama and suspense, a possessive hot tempered couple who are fighting their attraction, fighting each other and fighting for their alpha positions.. and there’s some steamy sex scenes too. I hope in book 2 they’ll eventually fight FOR each other and I can’t wait for the fireworks and feels. Shane‘s part in the dual POV was wonderful and delicious of course.. and Vanessa you rocked it girl - you are one of the best female narrators.. especially with male voices.. and accents.

What happened to duet narration??!

After the Kingdom Duet and its excellent narration, I was expecting to hear Shane East throughout the story and found it hard to listen to Vanessa Edwin change her voice to interpret Kyle. My workaround was to sync audio with Kindle to read Rai's chapters and just listen to Kyle's chapters. I agree there could have been a prequel to give the reader context on the back story, or flashbacks like in other Rina Kent stories.

It's about to go down!

The adult spin off of All the Lies and Truth with a Russian mafia twist, this story was a slow burn. Great featuring of the strong and resourceful Rai tangoing within her arranged marriage to husband Kyle. I liked Rai’s strength and ingenuity and Kyle’s total alpha, but I was waiting for the chemistry to knit between the two, in the tango push and pull. What held my attention, though, were the secrets and motivations just at the cusp of revelation.

Performance was excellent. Both voice actors were amazing in their range from characters to accents. The actress’ Russian accent was so authentic and she delivered well on reciting the male voices. While I do prefer duet narration, this dual performance was great compromise.

A slow burn story that I expect will delve into secrets and more revelations in part two.

Sheesh

‘𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙝𝙞𝙢 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚, 𝙝𝙚’𝙡𝙡 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣.‘

Wait just a minute. What was that?! I wanted Rai’s story from first meeting, and I knew it would be a good one, but I wasn’t expecting this!
The angst, the emotions, the betrayals, everything just came back to back to back, taking me out!
The audio was incredible, the accents, the voices matched the characters to a tee. I loved every last bit of it.

LOOOOOOVED!! 🔥

Rina Kent does mafia and arranged marriage so well, but also her characters are all the things!! I loved Kyle and Rai so freaking much. Both are such strong characters and each other’s match. They’re cunning and ruthless, but also passionate exude chemistry. I just freaking loved them.

Narration was performed by Shane East and Vanessa Edwin. What can I say about Shane East that I already haven’t? The man knocked it out of the park with his narration. Vanessa Edwin was also spectacular. I haven’t listened to a narration by her in a minute and I was reminded why I love her works so much. This duo was perfect bringing Kyle and Rai to life. I can’t recommend these books enough!

But had a huge tender heart that cared deeply for Kyle. And Kyle. He was EVERYTHING. Mysterious. protective. and my personal favorite. possessive. I loved seeing these two slowly come back together. I cannot wait for book 2!!!!!!! AHHHH AGAIN, THAT ENDING! KILLL MEEEE WHY DONTCHA!!!! 5 STARS!!!!!

Kyle and Rai!

This review is for both books in this duet.

When Kyle and Rai are wed in an arranged mafia marriage, bother have ulterior motives for agreeing to it. Kyle has scores to settle, and Rai wants to cement her seat at the table of the leaders of the Sokolov family. Women aren't supposed to be leaders, but Rai learned from her grandfather how to attain and use power to get what she wants. As Kyle and Rai play a dangerous game of cat and mouse with each other, they fight to acknowledge their growing attraction to one another, while not trusting their spouse. While they may have some steamy days and nights, it's all purely physical, and something expected of a married couple. Right? Rivalries and peace deals between mafia families are made, and no one trusts no one, but the Sokolov family must all work together to maintain their power.

The second story is much more intense, and full of action. This was a mafia tale full of layers and complicated characters. I loved how the characters weren't just good or bad; they are looking out for just themselves, and some for others they care for, or who can help them. Some people aren't who you think they are; but some are exactly who you think they are. A thrill ride from start to finish. Questions are answered, but some aren't, and you're left wondering...

Shane East and Vanessa Edwin did such a wonderful job w/the narration. This was my first Rina Kent book, and I definitely will be reading more of her work.

HUBBA HUBBA

OH MY GOSH!!!! The story, first and foremost, was AHMAZING!!

Rina does an awesome job building characters and worlds, but also is the QUEEN of plot twists. Often times, when I read a book, my mind is so focused on what's going to happen next that I can't hear my own voice reading the words. Queue in the audio version of this book and it adds a whole new stimulating experience!!! Shane's and Vanessa's voice are perfect for Kyle and Rai and OH MY GOSH, does it get STEAMY!!!

well written, so addictive. I love how Rai fights Kyle all the way. I love how they both are slowly falling in love but doesn't admit it or even acknowledge it. I can't say much more because I will totally give al the spoilers away. so I will leave with Holy hotness 🔥 super steamy make sure to have a second or third pair of panties you are gonna need them.. Shane east and Vanessa Edwin did a phenomenal job on narration and brought this book to life.. Shane east and that British voice yummy..

It's just okay

Love the narrators! However, the storyline is too predictable. I Will not be purchasing the next book.

I was already 100% in when Ms. Kent announced she was writing a mafia duet. I somehow didn't connect this to her Lies and Truths Duet until I started reading it. Now this duet can be read on it's own (assuming you read this book first of course) but I STRONGLY suggest you don't overlook the other duet. It slaps. and Rai? She is the real baddie. It's rare I come across a mafia romance with a heroine this strong and I don't know if I can go back to the meek heroines of others. As for Kyle. Man...he was intense. He's as dangerous as he is inviting. Can we trust him? Can we trust anyone?? Why haven't I got the second part of this duet yet?? All questions I can't answer for reasons. But if Mafia is your jam..pick this up. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Brilliant

This is my first book from Rina Kent and I’m blown away how good it was . Rai decides to step in and be forced into an arranged marriage to save them making Anastasia do it , little did she know a ghost from her past would soon be her husband. Kyle has ulterior motives for marrying Rai and has everyone fooled even Rai until he slips up and Rai finds out the truth of his second betrayal towards her.
Shane East and Vanessa Edwin narrated perfectly and I’m looking forward to book 2.
