Publisher's summary

One day Jody was found lying at the foot of a staircase on her way to give a client a beauty treatment. When she recovered and talked of a man with a goat and a yellow-and-black front door, her brother-in-law and Charles, her fiancé, told her she was imagining things. But Jody was unconvinced, and determined to find the man she remembered, leading a small goat.

Cleverly written mystery. Loved the romance and really enjoyed the book.

I really appreciate Elizabeth Cadell’s skill in writing mysteries. And the romance is always welcome. But her mysteries - have a special gentle quality that may not be as spookily hair-raising as Mary Stewart’s Wildfire at Midnight, but are still comparable in quality of writing and choice of plot.
I loved the suspense through The Yellow Brick Road as the mystery unfolded and really wanted to keep listening to it all day!
It’s always been a personal favorite.
About the narrator - I own hundreds of audio books and am very particular about the voice that is reading my book aloud.
Helen Taylor is perfect for this book. Her voice has calm and tranquil elements really suited to any Elizabeth Cadell novel. An excellent choice. I can’t fault her. I hope she is chosen for more; the three she has narrated so far by this author are terrific!

Such a great listen

It takes awhile to get into the cadence of this listen but once you settle in, you are in for quite a nice ride. Jody's adventures in finding the man with the goat lead to a wonderful little mystery with an ending that I sorta saw coming but not really.

The narration was exceptional. I love a British accent and one done well is a treasure.

Take the journey. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Disappointing

I love Elizabeth Cadell’s gentle dated stories and frequently amusing writing.
This was a silly story, a wet heroine, an incredibly unbelievable and unlikely scenario and even the ending was unresolved.
It wasn’t worth the time it took to listen to it!
