Nether Stapling Manor nor any of the fine family possessions of this stately home really belonged to Lady Laura, but for more than 20 years she had enjoyed them undisturbed. Many people in the nearby little town of Rivering were well aware of the situation. Another enjoyable listen by Elizabeth Cadell
The Haymaker, also known as Royal Summons, was written in 1972 and takes place in an English village. With this Audible version we are fortunate to have as narrator, her daughter, Janet Cadell Reynolds.
It's a lovely humorous story with interesting characters and a beautiful romance. I read it when it was first published as I read all her books when they first came out. Now I am lucky enough to also be able to listen to it!.
I recommend it highly!
