Acerca de esta escucha
Number-one New York Times Best Seller - soon to be a major motion picture starring Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, and Gary Oldman
"Astounding. Thrilling. Amazing." (Gillian Flynn)
"Unputdownable." (Stephen King)
"A dark, twisty confection." (Ruth Ware)
"Absolutely gripping." (Louise Penny)
For listeners of Gillian Flynn and Tana French comes one of the decade's most anticipated debuts, to be published in 36 languages around the world and already in development as a major film from Fox: A twisty, powerful Hitchcockian thriller about an agoraphobic woman who believes she witnessed a crime in a neighboring house.
It isn't paranoia if it's really happening....
Anna Fox lives alone - a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times...and spying on her neighbors.
Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, mother, their teenaged son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn't, her world begins to crumble. And its shocking secrets are laid bare.
What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one - and nothing - is what it seems.
Twisty and powerful, ingenious and moving, The Woman in the Window is a smart, sophisticated novel of psychological suspense that recalls the best of Hitchcock.
Bonus: Includes an interview with author A. J. Finn.

Historia
Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

This cleverly crafted thriller kept me intrigued a
Which character – as performed by Ann Marie Lee – was your favorite?
While there are some secondary characters in this story, the main character, Anna, was my favorite. Ms. Lee really brought her character to life.
Any additional comments?
The Woman in the Window truly surprised me with just how fantastic it was. I must admit, I was beyond perplexed at the beginning, because all I was really learning was how truly messed up Anna’s mind was (and who could blame her). In fact, several times I was thinking, where the heck is the author going with this story. Then BOOM!.......that magical moment every reader craves hit me and I was hooked. This cleverly crafted thriller kept me intrigued and captivated throughout and I could not put it down. As I was reading, I thought I knew where this story was going, but boy was I wrong! Anna is a complex and interesting character and it was an intense journey trying to understand what was going on inside her mind and listening to her thoughts.
Mr. Finn has an amazing talent for weaving a thrilling, on the edge of your seat, nail biting story that will have you hanging on for dear life. This is one author that is going to rock the literary world and I’m excited to read more from him!
The narrator, Ann Marie Lee, did an amazing job reading this novel. She brought the main character, Anna, to life and I felt as though I was in Anna's mind throughout the story.

Great Read/Listen!
This book was a great listen! The storyline line had so many twists and turns, and every time I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong! It’s very exciting to see such a great book as the author’s debut novel and to look forward to more to come. Kudos to the author and the narrator.

Waiting for the story........
I finished the book because I could not believe that all there was to the story was what was obvious from the start....very drawn out and predictable. The reader did a great job of putting some drama into an otherwise loooong drawnnnnn out two sentence story. No character development to speak of....very mediocre.

Hitchcock Fan Fiction
When you are successfully knocking off 'Rear Window' but having it be meta. This is a great example of tipping the hat to the master of suspense: Alfred Hitchcock. The protagonist lives in our timeframe/world so she makes references that are current. A film junkie will love this book, especially lovers of classic cinema. You can read synopsis' so that's not what my review is about. I love the narrator she did a pretty good job, David's character was a bit odd, but otherwise was great narration. I always have the audiobook on as I follow along with the physical book.
If you love Rear Window and The Girl on the Train, then you will absolutely love this novel from a first time author!
Although she is aware of her time period, I found it interesting that Rear Window was the only one of Hitchcock's famous works that she never mentions. As this is a complete play on that film.
Cannot wait for the Netflix film adaptation to come out on May 15, 2021. It has a lot to live up to, as this book was a real fun suspense thriller!

A good example of how a narrator damages a story
If you have decided to give Finn’s debut novel a try, read it. Never have I been so irritated with a narrator. With the glacial pacing & overwrought diction, the audible version was at least a third longer than necessary. An interminable denouement. The entire experience felt like hours on end in a dark room with innumerable glasses of merlot.
