Read the USA Today bestseller from the author of Roses, a "sumptuous, full-bodied, and emotional" novel about five young spies embedded among the highest Nazi ranks in occupied Paris (Adriana Trigiani, NYT bestselling author of Tony's Wife).
At the height of World War II, a handful of idealistic young Americans receive a mysterious letter from the government, asking them if they are willing to fight for their country. The men and women from very different backgrounds -- a Texan athlete with German roots, an upper-crust son of a French mother and a wealthy businessman, a dirt-poor Midwestern fly fisherman, an orphaned fashion designer, and a ravishingly beautiful female fencer -- all answer the call of duty, but each for a secret reason of her or his own. They bond immediately, in a group code-named Dragonfly.
Thus begins a dramatic cat-and-mouse game, as the group seeks to stay under the radar until a fatal misstep leads to the capture and the firing-squad execution of one of their team. But is everything as it seems, or is this one more elaborate act of spycraft?

I thought the narrator's did great with the accents and speaking German and French, I saw where others complained of this. Great historical fiction book. In the beginning I did feel that it was confusing as to who was who but once I got all the characters down, I loved it!

great listen

Started this book on a leisurely vacation because it was lengthy. To my surprise i would wake in the morning to be thinking of all theses characters. The narrators were exceptional in distinguishing between the cast. No spoilers so I’ll leave it with a must read. You will NOT be disappointed. I will be looking to enjoy another book by this author.

One of the best

Overall I enjoyed this book. It has great descriptions of what it must have been like to live in Occupied Paris during World War II. I found some of the plot a little ingenious which was why I gave it four instead of five stars. The performance was excellent.

I love historical fiction & especially works about WWII. This is most definitely one of the best I've read (heard). The narrators were outstanding! Can't wait to listen to another Leila Meacham story!
