Renowned as a novelist, journalist, and humorist, Mark Twain is not only one of the most widely read and admired American writers, he is also among the most quoted. Wit and repartee permeate his work — from the short, light pieces to his great novel Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and even later, in dark meditations on the human condition where his humor takes on a cynical, satirical twist. This remarkably inexpensive volume gathers together hundreds of Twain's most memorable quips and comments on life, love, history, culture, travel, and a diversity of other topics that occupied his thoughts over 50 years of writing and lecturing.

An invaluable, ready reference for writers, speakers, and others in search of amusing and insightful quotes, this entertaining and thought-provoking compilation is also an ideal introduction to Twain's inimitable style and thought.

I used a credit on this, ‘sound unseen,’ which is my own fault. I thought, ‘It’s Twain… what could possibly go wrong?’ The narration is what. I’m sorry, but anyone who is a fan of Samuel Clemens has probably listened to other audiobooks that were read very well. ‘Mark Twain’ was a larger-than-life character. That requires a narrator with a big personality. I’m sure this young man meant well, but I’ve heard more animated dial tones in my life.
The ONLY people who could benefit from this recording are the visually impaired who have no friends to read to them from a hard copy book. Even then, they will find this boring, at best.
Sorry for the downer, but some people just shouldn’t try to narrate, no matter how much they like the material they’re reading.

So disappointing…
