"Believing that something is wrong with us is a deep and tenacious suffering," says Tara Brach at the start of this illuminating book. This suffering emerges in crippling self-judgments and conflicts in our relationships, in addictions and perfectionism, in loneliness and overwork - all the forces that keep our lives constricted and unfulfilled. Radical Acceptance offers a path to freedom, including the day-to-day practical guidance developed over Dr. Brach's 20 years of work with therapy clients and Buddhist students.

Awesome!
I discovered Jack Kornfield while listening to the Duncan Trussell podcast, and after listening to the same podcast over 5 times, I realized I should give one of Jacks books a try. He is an excellent writer on Buddhist teachings, and I'm very thankful for the things he has opened my eyes, and mind to. The Wise Heart is a fairly long book with many things to offer. I just finished my first listen, and I can promise you it won't be my last!

Can be life changing
Jack's voice is an easy one to listen to. The ideas in the book had a profound effect on me. I had listened to Jack's audio presentation at Spirit Rock, Buddhism for Beginners, years ago and fell in love with the concept. If you really listen to the ideas I think they can help give a lot of deep understanding of the world. I loved it. Thank you Jack for your beautiful words.

Great Teachings
The teachings are fantastic, but the presentation leaves a lot to be desired. If I can keep myself listening, I learn a lot. But the monotone reading makes me zone out an awful lot. Maybe this one is best read in paperback.

Content was great.
I found it difficult to fully take in the message due to the monotone nature that it was delivered in. Perhaps you could argue my mind was not clear enough to take in what the reader was providing. However the flat delivery did not keep my attention.

This book is as gentle and beautiful as this lotus
I NEEDED the calm wisdom of this book!! I was going through some tough times in my personal life, and this book helped me get my footing back, stabilize my mood, and eliminate the disructive rage that was threatening to consume me at the time. THe calm reading by the author is very helpful in that it breathes with the rhythm of thought rather than overimposed "reading performance requirements" that sometimes reading actors bring to the table. THis was my first Kornfield, and I hope it won't be the last...

Not Unabridged
The audio book is good.
I will often listen and read along; however, significant portions have been deleted in the audio book.
They should have been left in, or the description should say that it is an abridged reading.
As abridged means having been shortened, this is clearly a shortened version.
