Just when I thought I'd finally found happiness, the nightmare I've been running from finds me, and my world goes dark.

Taking more from me than one person should ever have to lose, I end up on a new path, discovering I'm capable of things I never imagined possible, not even in the darkest parts of my imagination.

So much blood. So much pain. So. Much. Death.

Now, in a world where right is wrong, and the means justify the ends, where my presence brings destruction and devastation, I need to find my way back to the light, to joy. To love.

I thought when trouble came for me, I'd need the biggest monsters of the city on my side... but it turns out when you come for the people I love, I might be the biggest monster of all.

Intended for mature listeners.

Book one was just enough to want to find out what happens. Book two took off quick from the beginning so I thought oh now were are getting somewhere. Sadly it was a quick trip to nowhere. The book should have ended there.

Lots of details

I enjoyed book 1 better. This book felt rushed and there were so many topics that were rushed over and not acknowledged. The narrator seemed to be dragging her words for this book. I wanted to love it but it just fell short. I love “why choose” books but didn’t enjoy the lack of understanding and connection between the guys. They were willing to share her but one of them seemed to want to be the leader all the time. Not my favorite type of “why choose”.

Eh…not what I hoped for

Now, I loved book 1. 5 stars from me. Book 2 was totally set up for 5 stars till 80% in and everything felt so so rushed. Each chapter was months a head, and PLOT HOLES!!! I needed to know about Mateo more, I needed to know who turned her into her ex, and none of that was resolved or finished! The ending sucked and the epilogue did NOTHING for me. Like nothing. Literally didn’t add to the story at all. I’m so mad cuz I loved it up until the last few chapters. Ended the duet with more questions than answers. Only giving it 3 stars bc the rest was good…

Plot holes and rushed ending

The spice is fantastic and well written, that alone makes this book worth a read. There is not much going on with the storyline, I felt that was lacking and not engaging, but enjoyed it well enough. The female voice actor is monotone and there is virtually no difference between characters, for that reason I would recommend reading this one and skipping the audiobook version.

Great Spice

Rating: ★★★★☆

The Truth We Seek pulled me in with its layered characters and left me sitting in my feelings like, “ma’am… was that necessary?” The emotional tension was chef’s kiss, and the connection between the leads had that perfect slow-burn ache—equal parts maddening and magnetic.

Was it perfect? Nah. The middle wandered a bit, like it got lost in its own introspection. But the payoff was worth the meandering—Lily Wildheart stuck the landing in a way that made me forgive the detours.

The prose was gorgeous without being pretentious, and the little gut-punch moments? Yeah… those hit harder than I expected. Would I recommend it? Absolutely

Color me intrigued and slightly emotionally wrecked.
