New author. First novel. Home run out of the park. This book came to my notice on my audible feed and while I usually ignore such prompts am so glad I gave the TMC a try. Great narration, fabulous characters— a fun cozy mystery with both laughs and soul. Two thumbs way up.

Sophisticated writing.

Finally, a good clean mystery novel. I can't remember a book filled with as much love and intelligence as this story offers. The Thursday Murder Club is a true mystery in every sense of the word. You can listen in the car with young people, absolutely no swearing. The plot is fascinating. Best of all, there is a second book coming.

Confusing and convoluted

I stuck with this book out of stubbornness but it was not worth the hours invested.
Easily could be a 2 star. The ending was bizarre.

Disappointing but a good first book

I was really looking forward to this book. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I enjoy Richard Osman on Pointless and House of Games, and thought this would be a natural extension of his humor and wit. Eh not so much
I found it too sentimental. The characters of Donna and Chris were underwhelming and stereotypical. I know there will be more books coming and a movie (though I hope it’s a tv series.) I think with a few tweaks this could be an amazing series.

conundrum

I found it excruciatingly painful and slow to listen to. I had read that it started out that way and got better over time, so I decided to tough it out. By the end, I was left confused by whether I was glad I'd listened to it. As I thought about it, the interview with the author started. Now I find myself looking forward to the next book in the series! And still confused on whether I even enjoyed it. Hmmmm...

The characters…I came to care for and love them ❤️

A great read! I felt the 1st few chapters were a little confusing but that might be because I’m an American so words and cultural basics are different. But when I got into the book I was “deep” and couldn’t put it down. Would get nasty when people were trying to engage w me while I was reading.

And now I can’t wait to jump into book two because I miss the characters. I pray Richard O never gets tired of writing..I would be so sad. I literally feel like I’m a member of the club.

I will be recommending this book to all my friends and family. It’s one of those rare books that you can recommend to anyone because it is so well-written, captivating, and has such wide appeal. The plot is complex and delicious-full of delightful twists and turns that I never saw coming. The characters were original and compelling and felt like people you wanted to know. I loved the story, the language and the dialog. Mr Osman has written a brilliant first novel that is a great mystery, but more important, is a powerful and poignant tale of life and relationships. The narrator is also very good, and doesn’t get in the books way. Can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Is at a different volume. Very annoying. I loved it anyway. Characters very well created.
