My second Harrison Phillips novel after Cuddle Buddies and I absolutely loved both of them. The sticks is so much more brutal and relentless! Harrison Phillips does an amazing job telling a story and keeping you guessing what is going to happen next. The short stories after were also very enjoyable to listen to. Big Bear Audio did not disappoint either, always enjoy his narrations and he most certainly gave an incredible performance to help show how grow this story is! Great job to the both of you!

A fun dirty slasher comedy often too much (complimentary) and infused with a sly sense of comedy; not without theme. I appreciated how semi-serious it was, a hangout degenerate thriller. Big Bear Audio has a stately charismatic english vibe that elevated the material and make it feel more serious than it is, unflinchingly narrating some grit. The extreme horror filth (in the best way) is elevated by a more ensemble cast that helps scatter slasher style typicals (its like a few cats and a few mice and something hard to tell which is which). There is a low key twisted morality element that makes the material more thoughtful beyond the smut given the varying motives of different characters (the saran wrap guy feels key to this). Consistent with this design there are some thematic elements related to family that sometimes get embedded as redundant elements like finding the best orifice but the layering and repetition has clear purpose beyond being gruesome. Im convinced there are more than one reads possible under the horny grue. After the main story there are two other smaller ones that might be more squimish but add to a meta community character based feel. Overall it plays like degenerate filth with a gross punchline.

Harrison Phillips is becoming one of my favorite extreme horror/ splatterpunk authors out there.
the sticks I thought was going to be just a backwoods hillbilly home invasion type story but it became so much more. it was gnarly and visceral with tons of Carnage but also a bunch of laughs the way he is able to blend the comedy into such extreme violence is something else. definitely a five out of five book

incredibly gnarly
