Publisher's Summary

It was a simple rhyme, a honeymoon folk blessing from the Riverlands, Minalan's home.

Seven bottles of mead to share.
For seven nights or more.
Each cup a toast, each sip a wish.
To bind their lives forevermore:
A bottle first for happiness, a bottle then for health.
A bottle for togetherness, a bottle next for wealth.
A bottle sipped for harmony, the equilibrium of desire.
A bottle savored for purest lust, which brings the marriage fire!

A bottle last for love to endure as long as life shall last,
saved for they who toast their love when five full years have passed!

But those seven bottles of mead were more than just a folk blessing. As Lord Minalan the Spellmonger began his honeymoon on a decadent river barge with his very pregnant bride, he had no idea that the occasion would have anything more complicated than eating, drinking, and making love on the agenda. But a frantic message from one of the Tree Folk indicating he and Alya may be in danger compels him to skip the lazy repose and travel to a far away ruin to speak with a possibly crazy Alka Alon mage - Lilastien, the Sorceress of Sartha Wood. After river pirates, trolls, and the sheer difficulty of adjusting to married life, the answers to the questions he has for her may be more than he, his wife, and his marriage can handle.

Come sail down the languid Burine river with the Spellmonger, and see how seven bottles of mead and a pregnant bride can turn a holiday jaunt into a potential interspecies disaster!

Note: This novella fits chronologically just before the events of Magelord, book three.

I hope the series never ends !

Wonderful addition to the Spellmonger series - Mancour masterfully invites to you walk along his main characters while being one of the best authors to walk that fine line between so much detail the tale becomes ponderous and so little you don’t fall in love with the characters.
Particularly impressive - he updates / reminds readers of things that have happened in other books such that you could likely enjoy the book without having read all the others. It’s more fun if you have / easier to understand some of the jokes, but impressive that a novice to the overall story could enjoy it just the same.
Fantastic narration by John Lee as always!!

Surprising

This one is the answer to all what is really going on in the Spellmonger’s world. I am so glad I happened to find it only after “The Spellmonger’s Yule”. Though I am glad I still have the whole “Cadet” series is left while desperately waiting for the audio version of “The Necromancer”.

It was ok...

I liked the story, in providing come additional background lore to the World of Callidore, but it was a little bittersweet, given the current condition of Alya.

A good lead up to the other books in the series

I went through the other books in the series before I got to this one. this one sets up a lot of things for the following books. I have more questions for this story world... glorious! I'm really looking forward for more books in the series.

Don't skip it

This wonderful little adventure fits between Book 2 and Book 3. And it's lovely: lots of personality, and some good fights too. Don't skip it.

Interesting and fulfilling

Wasn't expecting a filler or a prequel book before the current story was completed but oh well!

What a great series!

John Lee gives the characters so much personality and life. It's also refreshing to read a story about something other than "a chosen one" cookie cutter hero.

Short but Sweet.

There is nothing I love more than an addition to and already beloved story. I enjoyed the insight into an aspect that we knew of but had little detail. if you are a fan of the series you will love this aa much as I did.

great! well worth the 3bucks

it was a good story and I didn't use my credit for such a short book. I paid the members price of 2.99 or something of that nature. they should definitely do that more often for these short in-between filler stories

A fantastic listen

I love this series I really do, this book offers some nice insight into the main character and his wife. I really enjoyed getting insight into their lives. Learning more about important factions and history adds even greater depth to the story and world its set in.

As always the narrator was fantastic. I hope the other short stories and books will be made into audio books.

Amazing as ever

I am always very hesitant to buy ”inbetween books” but this is amazing and as ever I was entranced with the spellmongers story. The author has a Facebook page to which he posts a lot, which is amazing and really.makes it exciting when he remember to tell people it has been released 😂

Great as always!!

I have enjoyed many book series on Audible, many vying for the top spot. The pairing of Terry Mancour's writing with the complimentary narration of John Lee has taken and retained the top spot for a while now.
